"The thought of him touching you," Ben snarled. "What if I hadn't showed up? What would've happened?" Ben's voice cracked, his tome was harsh.
"I would've bashed his head in with my bat," you said, taking a step towards Ben. Ben glared at you,
"Really? Are you sure about that?" You thought about how strong Charlie was.
"No, maybe not," you sighed. Ben stood up from his bed and punched the wall. You took another step forward and swallowed.
"Just thinking about him doing stuff to you, who knows, you could've wanted it. It-it . . . UGH!" Ben threw his fist into the wall again and tears threatened his eyes. You bit your bottom lip nerviously.
"I didn't want him to do anything," you said softly.
"That makes me feel worse! What if he had? It's sick." Ben spat. You stared in awe as tears streamed down his face.
"W-why do you even care?" You asked. Ben threw his arms up in aggravation.
"You're my friend!" Ben yelled. Slightly scared of his yelling you took a step back and watched as Ben fumed. "I can't let people hurt my friends, and if he had hurt you, I'd feel guilty."
"I'm fine Ben," you said, trying to reassure the boy. He shook his head and fell back onto his bed. He covered his face with his hands and sucked in air. You walked over to the bed and sat down next to him, you placed a hand on his arm and looked down at the crying guy in front of you.
"I swear Ben," you said. "I'm fine." Ben stopped shaking under your touch and pulled his fingers through his messy hair.
"Promise?" Ben asked.
"Promise," you smiled.
"Good," Ben sat up with a goofy grin on his face and laughed. "Tomorrow, what're you doing?"
"Nothing," you replied confused. Ben pulled you into a hug and laughed again.
"We're going out on the town, you, me and the family." Ben's smile was big. You stared at him in shock, it was like the first day you met, the goofy grin, his laugh, everything.
"Where are we going?" You asked. Ben looked at the ceiling in deep thought.
"The beach!" Ben said happily.
"Uh, there's water there," you said cautiously. Ben stared into your eyes for a long time before he said,
"Yeah you're right, how about the arcade?"
You nodded and watched Ben's face light up. You didn't realize Ben had been holding your hands until he squeezed them in excitement.
"Great!" His voice was the happiest you'd ever heard it, it amazed you. How he could go from crying to super happy.
"Wanna play videogames?" Ben asked. You looked at the TV and then back at Ben.
"As long as you don't cheat," you said with a smile. Ben smiled back and leaned in towards your face,
"No promises, cutie."
You rolled your eyes and stared into his eyes, his red irises looking into your soul.
"I call playing yoshi!" You yelled falling backwards off his bed and rolling over to the beanbag you had woken up in so many times.
"Who said we were playing Mario Kart?" Ben asked looking down at you. You pulled the beanbag up onto the bed and leaned against it.
"Uh, I did?" You said in a 'this should be obvious' tone. Ben rolled his eyes and handed you a controller.
