Keeping a friend(completed)

In the food court

We find seats near the windows just in case I need to fly out the window at anytime. We talk and drink our coffees until, the topic of Leo came up, I choked on my coffee.

"How's it going with Leo?" she asks like a little girl asking her mom if she can have candy.

"It's going good, this morning he made pancakes and he scared the living shit out of me last night" I say with a smile I can't get rid of. I cover my mouth and I didn't even know I was saying those things.

"What! did you stay at your place?!?"

She says as I look away thinking of jumping out the window now! I looked at her again and I gave her a smile saying 'I'm not saying anything' looking, and crossing my arms over my chest.

"Spit it out!" maya yells as she stands up and slaps her hands on the table demanding an answer out of me, I grab her shoulders and put her back in her seat.

"Fine! I did stay at his place but we didn't do anything" I say in a small voice loud enough that she can only hear because I bet the whole food court heard our conversation.

"Good enough for me. So I heard Kendal was back from Alberta and someone smashed his face in?" she asks looking through her phone checking for any new messages.

"Yeah that second part was sorta my fault" I say looking down at my feet. I feel her gaze burning into my skin.

I finally look up and it's like looking into the sun but its her eyes instead.

"Alex I know your just alone inside and I could help with that." Matt says putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Matt?" maya says in a small voice.she stands up and puts her hands on his chest.

"Yeah?" he says coming in closer. their foreheads touch. Matt puts his hand on maya's cheek and maya slaps his face.

"DON'T EVER TOUCH ME! AGAIN! DON'T YOU SEE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE WITH YOU! NOW LEAVE HER ALONE! SHE'VE MOVED ON! GET OVER YOURSELF!" Maya yells and the food court turns their heads to look at her but, she doesn't care. Matt walks away again and I let out a sigh knowingly he'll never come near me again.
