I swim around looking for something to cut the rope around my wrists with. As I'm looking, I come across a cave. It's dimly lit and emits a heavenly sound. The power I feel within myself is spewing forth from this cave, only more powerful. At the entrance, I hesitate and peer inside.
Suddenly, the sound stops and a shadow slowly swims toward me. I start to back away when the shadow finally emerges. The woman that came forth was breath-taking. Her hair is navy blue, and her skin and tail are the same as mine. It was her face, though, that had me in awe. Her lips were beautifully plump on her heart-shaped face and her eyes were a perfect almond shape. Her eyes were eerie, they were a blood red with cat-like slits for pupils.
"Are you okay, child?"
Her voice jolted me from my trance. It didn't match her appearance. It sounded gravelly, like she hadn't used it in a while. She looks me over from head to toe... I mean, tail and stops at my wrists. She swims up to me and lifts my wrists up. She examines the rope and in one swift movement, slashed through the rope with her nails. I didn't notice before but her nails were much like mine, except hers were longer and I'm guessing stronger than mine.
"Come now, child," she says, as she beckons me to follow her into the cave.
I don't hesitate to enter this time and eagerly follow her into the cave. I notice that it becomes brighter as we get further in. The lights I see are moving.
"The glass squid, their bio-luminescence is useful," she says when she notices my curious expression. I blurt out, "Amazing!" before I can stop myself and she chuckles. After I get done gawking at the squid, she continues further into the cave. When we finally reach the end, she turns to face me and hands me a handheld mirror.
A/N: Sorry, this chapter is really short. It looked a lot longer when I wrote it but when I typed it out, I realized how short it actually is, so my bad.
