Three weeks later...

I set the weights down on the rack as Paul calls me over to the virtual training room. Harry steps out, a layer of sweat fresh on his forehead, and says, "Good luck, mate. He's not being nice today."

Oh crap. Over the past three weeks, we've been training everyday. Well, everyday either before or after whatever signings or interviews One Direction was scheduled for. The training consisted of working out or running as Paul called us one by one to go into the virtual training room, while Clodagh worked with us to train our powers and develop hand-to-hand combat skills.

Earlier, when Liam came out of the training room, he passed out. Paul definitely pushed him, but he and Zayn are the only ones who have really gotten the hang of their powers. Well, other than the new power that Zayn has discovered. I still have trouble controlling when my strength is exerted; the other day, I was playing Xbox with Harry. He started winning the game, and my fingers ended up pressing against the buttons so hard the entire controller broke.

I step into the room, glancing around the dark silver walls surrounding me, and close the door. Outside the room, Paul presses some buttons on the control panel. I feel a tug in my stomach, and the room slowly dissolves, taking on a new persona.

I'm standing in the middle of an alleyway in London. I hear Big Ben chime in the distance, signaling that it's 8 PM. I turn and take in the situation before me. In front of me are about ten men, all wearing masks. Two of them stand on the sides of a girl, probably not older than 18. One of them raises a gun to her head, and I hear the trigger lock into place as she whimpers.

"You have two minutes to save the girl," Paul's voice echoes. "Your time starts...now."

Before I begin, I take a deep breathe, shutting my eyes. As I exhale, they open, and the power within me surges to life.

I start with the man to my right. I launch a kick to his chest and he flies back, taking another man with him as they sail into the nearest wall. I've barely put my foot down before something slams into my side, arms wrapping around my waist, and pain shoots down my arm as I hit the ground. Quickly, I wrestle my arms out from the man's grip, clutch his wrists as he hovers over me, and hit my head against his, pushing all my strength into that one motion. He drops immediately. I jump to my feet, not even winded by the hit, as the next wave approaches.

Two men come at me. I ball my fist and slam it into the first one's jaw, then use my elbow to hit the other's gut. Both go flying. Another walks towards me, but I quickly launch a roundhouse kick to his face; it makes contact with his jaw and he falls. Two more guys, and then the two holding the girl. I'm able to knock the next ones out very quickly. I turn towards the final two.

"Let her go," I demand. "Or you'll end up like your friends."

One of the men laughs. The other kicks the back of the girl's knees; she falls to the ground, and the gun rests on the back of her head. She gazes at me desperately.

"You take one more step and I'll blow her brains out," he says in a gruff voice.

What I wouldn't give to have Harry's telekinesis right now. Think. I observe my surroundings with my eyes, careful not to move my head. There has to be something that I can use to my advantage. Then, I spot it: a metal trash bin, covered with a silver lid. I could easily use that.
