Liam
"So what should we do tomorrow?"
I shrug. "Beats me. I'm still high on holiday spirit."
Harry sends me a look. "That was the lamest thing you've ever said, Payno."
"Hey, careful what name you use! We're on patrol. Someone could overhear."
"We're on a roof. No one will hear," Harry laughs.
Shaking my head, I perch myself on the ledge of the building, staring out over the city. Louis' birthday, Christmas, and New Year's all came and went in the blink of an eye. We've got a couple of music videos planned, so we'll be called to film those soon. But other than that, we don't have anything to do "One Direction-wise" until March. That's when rehearsals for the Where We Are Tour begin.
On the superhero side of things, not much has happened. The five of us returned from home a couple of days after Christmas, and we resumed patrol that night. There's been a few robberies and break-ins that we've investigated with the police (who, by the way, are quite fond of us), but not much more than that. And on top of that, the LSL has been very quiet lately. We can't figure out why.
"Let's move over a few buildings," Harry suggests. "I'm kind of bored right here."
"Not that that will help, but all right." I wait for Harry to float to wherever it is he wants to go before I bounce to him.
"We still have two hours. What can we do for two hours?" Harry asks, groaning at the end.
"We'll have to entertain ourselves somehow." I look around, taking in my surroundings, searching for something, anything that could possibly entertain us. My eyes float to a certain Ferris wheel on the Thames, and I smile. "See the London Eye over there?" I point in its direction, and Harry follows my hand. "I want you to move it."
Harry immediately bursts out laughing. "Yeah, Houdini, and I want you to teleport to Antarctica." When he sees the blank expression on my face, he freezes. "Wait, you're being serious?"
"Yes, I want you to move the London Eye."
"Are you out of your mind?! I can't move that. I can barely lift more than a few cars at a time!"
"It's the ultimate test!" I argue. "You've been working on your powers nonstop. And as you do, you're developing more, like telepathy. If you can stop a few dozen bullets from hitting us, while holding the guns in the air, you can move it."
Harry doesn't say anything. He turns from me and stares at the lit-up structure. "Do you really think I can?"
I lay a hand on his shoulder, staring at the Ferris wheel with him. "I know you can." Clapping his arm, I step back to his left, crossing my arms over my chest.
Harry hestitantly holds up his hands. He looks back at me, and I nod once; he turns back around. He takes a step back for balance, purses his lips, and...nothing happens. I anxiously watch the Eye, looking for any movement but finding none. My eyes find Harry again; his face is flushed, a fresh layer of sweat covering his forehead and upper lip. Suddenly, he drops his arms, exhaling roughly as he doubles over, hands on his knees. "I can't do it," he wheezes. "'M sorry."
After a few seconds pass, the only sound being Harry's loud breath, I finally come up with what to say. "Listen, Marvel, and listen good," I say, my voice coming out a little harsher than I meant it to. Gentler, I continue, "You can't do it right now because you're telling yourself that you can't. You don't truly believe that you can move it. But Harry, I've seen what you can do. You're capable of so much more than you realize. So stop telling yourself that you can't do it and start saying that you can do it."
