I must've been gaping at the Master for longer than necessary because he cleared his throat and asked what's wrong. I laughed. A humourless laugh.
"What's wrong? You're really asking me that when you clearly know what's wrong?!" I almost raised my voice. Almost. I was immediately asked to behave myself. "You're not raising your voice at the Master ever again. Understand?" David glared at me. I noded, looking at my feet guiltily.

"I know this is a lot to digest, my child, but you were the only suitable candidate for this." Master explained. I looked at him, confusion clear on my face. "What exactly do I have to do? There's already people allotted for human and animal souls. What else is left? Aliens?" I narrowed my eyes at the Master. I don't know where all this confidence was coming from. Maybe there was something in the forest that bit me and now I'm out of my mind. That could be it!
John glared at me from where he was standing behind the Master's chair. I rolled my eyes at him. It isn't my fault I'm acting this way. They're not even telling me what I need to know.

I looked at the Master again. He sighed. "Not aliens, but close. You'll be hunting for things that come out at night." He tried to explain. "At night? You mean like owls and stuff?" I asked, confused. Master chuckled. He actually chuckled! Oh em gee, I'm gonna brag about this my whole life! I made the Master chuckle!
"Are you listening, kid?" Master asked, sounding a little amused. "Sorry, what?" I smiled apologetically.
"I was saying," he repeated slowly, "that you'll have to hunt vampires."
