"So Alex, hows writing going? I'm sure you've got a lot of time now that the tour is over." I said, realizing that he has a lot of time because he had his heart broken by Taylor."It's going pretty well, I think this next album will be a good one." Alex responded, you could see the hurt in his big brown eyes. I'm sure they're all about Taylor, maybe even some about Miles; a girl can dream. I took a drink of my coffee trying to think of anything to change the subject.
"Have you ever been hurt before?" Alex asked me.
"Of course" I responded. "There was this guy that I was really into, he was practically perfect actually. He uh, left me for my best friend at the time. Of course that was a while ago and..." I stopped. Why was I pouring my heartache to this man? As if he really cared.
"I understand that pain." Alex said looking into my eyes. "yet getting over Taylor has been rough to say the least."
"If you want we can talk about it, that always helps." I said. He really does look worn down, his hair is a mess and not in the cute Alex way. His eyes look they haven't slept a wink in weeks; even his style is off. I feel so bad for him because he looks absolutely awful.
Alex looked at me, his eyes looked wet. I could tell he was nowhere near okay. "Alex I'm so sorry, it will get better. Trust me." I said while placing my hand on top of his. He took my hand and held it as he looked down at is coffee.
"Thanks for sitting with me." Alex said, he started to compose himself.
"You're welcome, I'm just sorry it had to happen like this." I said with a slight smile.
"Yes I would have preferred to not be covered in coffee." Alex said as a smile escaped his lips.
This miserable day in LA had just brightened up. I am sitting with Alex Turner, could life be any better? I took a drink of my coffee and realized he was still holding my hand. Something about it felt right, almost like it was normal. My phone started to ring, it was my boss.
"Do you mind if I take this? It's work." I asked.
"Thats alright." Alex replied.
I picked up my phone, "it will just be a minute" I said. I walked away from the table and stood at the corner looking at the busy street. "Hello?"
"Marilyn"
"Yes what can I do for you on this fine day, Todd?" Todd was my boss, he was alright. Very into music, so thats a major plus. He was me cover stories on so many amazing bands, the ones not many people have heard of. The only downside is he's in New York right now, while I'm in LA covering the new emerging artists.
"I'm going to need you to write me an article about the band Pocket Full of Nickels. They're a new indie/punk band, I can tell they're going to be huge." Todd said.
"Sounds promising, when do they play?" I asked as I turner around to look at Alex. He was smoking another cigarette looking at the the many faces that pass by.
"Tonight" Todd said.
"Oh wow" I said.
"Well I figured you don't have many friends so what else are you gonna do." Todd said.
"Gee thanks, Just email me the rest of the information." Asshole. Well its not like he's wrong or anything. I just don't like people very much. I have my cat and that's perfectly okay with me.
"Will do, try to have some fun." Todd said.
"Goodbye Todd." I ended the call and looked back at Alex. His eyes met mine and he smiled at me.
