Once the Sun sets, my fears awaken
During twilight acts of anxiety invade
Evening brings shades of darkness to life
While rays of the Lady Moon caress me
As she attempts to anchor my soul
Pillows cradle and embrace me
While the Sandman sprinkles his dust with care
Screams bring me from my slumber
Sweat and tears bring me back to the here and now
Shadows move around with intent
Keeping me from feeling at ease
Lady Moon lazily slips into the morning light
As I stare into the mirror my true self fades
While the mask I have created over the ages
Slowly appears with the arrival of the Sun
With my mask I accept the day and move on
Until the Sun sets to unmask me once more
