Day 1

Hello Alex,

The countdown has begun. Are you ready

to uncover all the secrets your family has

been masking with lies? I guess you have

no choice though do you? I’ve decided to

give you another clue, who’s Janice?

Lots Of Love,

-Your Personal Tormenter

Whoever this person was, they had some serious issues to deal with, how would they know about my family secrets?

Deciding I was 99% done with this topic I went to the kitchen where my breakfast was

waiting for me.

“Good morning everyone!” I say too excited for my own good.

“Someone’s in a good mood today!” My mom says looking up from her cooking. “I know you don’t like scrambled eggs, so I made you some french toast. It’s on the table.”

I smile so big it hurts and I run over to the kitchen table where there’s a plate of french toast calling my name, begging to be eaten.

I suddenly remember the note, and curiosity takes over, “Hey mom, who’s Janice?” The words escape my mouth before I even had time to process them. That’s another thing that I do a lot, I don’t think before I say somthing, I just say it as soon as it pops into  my mind.

“I don’t know sweetie, why?”

“Oh, just wondering.” I guess this meant I had to ask my dad.

“Good morning every one.” says a sleepy Veronica as she sits down at the table.

“Morning” I say, “hey Veronica, do you know anybody named Janice?”

I see Veronica’s eyes widen, “Uhh, I knew a girl named Janice.”

“What do you mean? Did she like change or something?”

Her gaze drops to the floor, “No she died when I was in 6th grade.”

“How?”

“Her dad, he killed her apparently.”

“That’s just wrong.”

“I know.” she says, “I’ll be right back,” and she starts to run towards the hallway.

I follow her, it wasn’t like Veronica to just leave a conversation. As I search the house, I finally see her in her room crying. “Are you okay?” I say standing at the doorway.

It seems to scare her, seeing as she jumped about 5 feet into the air, “Yeah, I’m fine, it’s just…”

“Memories” I finish for her.

“Yeah, she used to be one of my closest friends, when she died it’s like a part of me died with her.” She looks up at me.

I nod in agreement, then I realize, Janice, is my Michael. Anonymous is basically telling me that if I don’t do what he says, Michael will face the same fate as Janice. I leave Veronica’s room and I go to my room. As I walk in, I close the door behind me, I opened my laptop and searched “Man Kills Daughter- San Francisco”
