I’m back in my room and it’s morning. I checked the clock it read, 7:04. Crap I’m gonna be late. I rush over to my closet and I quickly pick out a random t-shirt, some jeans, and I slip on my pair of converse, I’ll tie them later.

Again, I’m rushing towards the kitchen, grabbing a box of cereal and serving myself. I try to hurry up, but one cannot simply rush while eating cereal. I see Veronica rushing towards the kitchen too. When she looks at me she smiles, “You’re late too?”

I’m busy trying to eat as much food possible so all I do is nod. When I finish I quickly rush to my room, grab my backpack throw it in the living room, run to the bathroom, brush my teeth, then run out the door. “Bye!” I say as I’m leaving, I notice that I do that a lot, I leave without a warning until last minute when I decide to say something.

I hear a distant goodbye but I’m already on my way to school.

When I get to school, I barely make it to homeroom on time. Just as I sit down the bell rings, Ms.Perkins, my homeroom teacher looks at me as if she’s impressed. “Mr.Garcia, did you oversleep again?” she asks loudly trying to humiliate me.

I scratch the back of my head, “Yeah,” I say softly.

She smiles then proceeds to read the announcements, when she’s halfway through telling us about the “fun” party the chess club was holding, there’s an announcement,

Alex Garcia and Ryder Collins please come to the front office. Alex Garcia and Ryder Collins please come to the front office.

Everyone looks at me with an amused ‘what did you do now?’ face, I just laugh and get up from my seat then I start to make my way towards the front office.

My first thought as I start to walk is “What did I do?” my second thought was “Who’s Ryder Collins?” but my last thought was “Oh well.”

When I finally reach the front office I go up to the receptionist, “Alex Garcia?” she asks.

No shit, I come in here like once a month. “Yes,” I say with a fake polite attitude, I even made it so it sounded extra fake and annoying. Just for her.

“In there.” she says referring to the principal’s office.

As I walk in I’m not even that nervous, I come in here a lot. In fact the principal and I are on a first name basis. “Hello Alex.” He says as I walk in.

“Hello, Harold.” I add as I’m sitting down in front of him. “What did I do this time?”

He just smiles, “Why don’t we wait for Ryder to come here?”

Just as he’s finishing this sentence the door opens, I turn around to see who it is. I smile, it’s the Sophomore kid I punched on Friday. So that’s what this is about.

“What seems to be the problem Mr.Richards?” he asks trying to sound mature.

I stifle a laugh causing both Harold and Ryder to glare at me. “Sorry.” I mumble while smiling.

“Actually I wanted to talk to both of you about our school’s violence policy. Both of you know that there are consequences for getting in a fight right?”

I smile at the word ‘fight’ “Actually Harold, it wasn’t much of  fight really, I mean, I was the only one who actually landed a punch.”
