It was the day after Arin's therapy session, a Friday. He was in his last class of the day, English. He nervously fiddled with the corners of his essay, nervous. He wasn't too sure as why he was nervous- he knows he doesn't have to present his essay as the other kids have to.
"Hanson!" Arin looked up from his name being called from his teacher. "Come up to present!"
Arin gave the teacher a weird look, how was he supposed to present when he didn't talk- that and he didn't want to.
"Do it in sign language, so some students can become interested."
Arin stood up from his seat in the middle of the classroom and gulped, all eyes seemed to be piercing into him and he didn't know if he could handle it. Arin had to hide a smirk as he got to the front and a thought came to his mind, his teacher and probably all the students didn't know sign language, so he could say anything he wanted.
This class is fucking stupid Arin signed, instead of talking about a dumb book they had to read. A kid in the back snorted a little louder than what was considered normal. I hate it and want to die. Why am I even doing this no one can understand me. Please kill me.
The same kid in the back let out an extremely loud laugh and everyone turned back to him, Arin stopped his "essay".
"Daniel, please be quiet," the teacher scolded, the kid continued to laugh loudly.
The boy sitting next to him groaned. "Ugh, he probably doesn't have his hearing aids on."
Hearing aids? This peaked Arin's interest. He probably knows sign language. How has Arin not seen him before? Probably because he never pays attention in class.
Arin walked over to the boy and tapped him on the shoulder, gaining his attention, he stopped laughing. Can you understand me?
The kid simply nodded.
Arin was very happy, someone actually knew sign language! What's your name?
Arin didn't get to see the boy's name - or remember it from when the teacher said it - as the teacher cleared their throat loudly and called the students back to their attention. Arin made his way to his seat and class started back normally once again.
