-One month later.-
It had been one month. One month exactly since Harry was admitted into the huge mental hospital next to the prison in Cheshire.
One whole month of visits that consisted of wailing, crying, screaming, and hatred.
And with each day, or really each second, Harry was seeming to get worse. After just a month, he had dark bags under his eyes, and his ribs (now completely healed) were visable.
His eyes were always bloodshot, and he never spoke higher than a whisper.
But the nurses were trying their hardest, Louis understood. But he wanted Harry back.
It was December 24th, Louis's birthday, and the school had let out for Christmas break a day earlier.
As Louis walked into the hospital, greeting the lady at the front with a nod, today Ashe stopped him.
Ashe was one of Harry's nurses, and she was pretty, no doubt.
"Harry seems to be getting better from yesterday." She said cheerfully, smiling. "Happy birthday by the way."
"Thanks.. But how's he gotten better?" Louis asked as they began walking to the elevator.
"Well, yesterday he was screaming as usual, but today he woke up, ate breakfast, and talked to Perrie! He told us it was your birthday, and that he hoped you'd come today. He seemed calm, but at lunch, he tripped and dropped his tray. It took us half an hour to get him to stop crying."
Louis nodded, staying quiet as he pressed the button to go to the second floor.
"Isnt that great, Lou?" Ashe asked, confused as to why Louis wasn't even showing the least bit of happiness for their progress.
"It is, Ashe.. It's just.. Is he ever going to go back? Just completely be... Him again?"
"Were hoping. Maybe this small step in progress will expand?"
"Yeah.. maybe.." Louis said quietly, more to himself than Ashe, as they entered the room.
It was silent for a minute until Harry turned around, seeing Louis. He instantly smiled widely, running to Louis.
The younger boy engulfed Louis in a tight hug, mumbling a small "Happy Birthday, Lou-Lou." Into his ear.
Louis smiled for real for the first time in a small while hugging Harry back. He felt like crying, but he held it back.
He also felt like not letting Harry go, but he unreleased him after a minute.
"How are you feeling?" Louis asked calmly, not wanting to upset the younger lad.
Harry smiled, taking Louis's hand and pulling him over to the small bed. "Cold?" Harry murmured, pointing to himself.
Louis nodded, understanding what he wanted. He laid his self back on the bed, before pulling Harry into his arms.
"So what'd you have for lu-" he went to ask about his lunch, as they sometimes talked about, because to Harry they always served the best lunches, but Louis remembered what Ashe had said about Harry's tantrum. "For breakfast. What'd you have for breakfast?"
Louis's voice was quiet, as Harry liked.
"Eggs."
"That it?"
"And ice cream.." Harry let out a small giggle, grinning.
"Ice cream? For breakfast?" Louis teased with a small smirk.
Harry blushed deeply, hiding his face in his chest.
Louis smiled at Ashe and she nodded, signaling it was time for Harry's medicine.
"Harry babe, it's time for your meds."
"No.."
Harry shook his head and Louis knew a tantrum was coming on soon.
"Harry, baby.. Do it for me?"
Harry shook his head again.
"No, Louis."
"Harry.."
"I SAID NO!" Harry yelled, sitting up and scooting from Louis.
Louis frowned, sighing. He was silent for a moment, and it seemed like time stopped.
"Harry, please baby calm down."
"Why'd you even come?!" Harry screamed throwing a pillow across the room.
Ashe rushed over to Harry's side, whispering something into Louis's ear before walking off. Louis nodded, standing and kneeling in front of Harry.
"Want me to sing to you, baby?" Louis asked, his voice still quiet.
Harry instantly perked up, nodding quickly and moving back into Louis's tight arms. Louis smiled to himself, thinking of the perfect song to sing.
He loved the band and the song, so he went with Iris by Goo Goo Dolls.
Harry sat, listening intently as Louis's soft voice hit every note almost perfectly, not paying any attention to the wide smiling Ashe back across the room.
Harry hummed along in tune with the older boys singing, seeing nothing but him, also hearing nothing but him.
The younger boy soon calmed down and slowly fell asleep in Louis's loose arms, not hearing the older boys' quiet, relieved sigh.
Ashe walked her quiet way back over, whispering carefully to Louis.
"Times up.."
"It cant be.."
"Im sorry, Louis. We'll let you in first thing tomorrow.."
Louis nodded, sighing again as he let go of Harry, standing and tucking him gently into the comfortable bed.
'Bye Lou." Ashe said, hugging Louis tight. "Call if you wanna check on him."
Louis nodded, hugging her back half-heartedly before leaving the building. He felt bad, wanting to stay with Harry for the full night, and just leaving him.
But he knew it was for the best, Harry being in the hospital because he desperately wanted him back and better.
And oh how Louis hoped he'd return, better than ever.
Soon.
