I couldn't fight back the tears anymore, and they came streaming down my face. I swallowed.
"No. No. No." I spoke quietly as we watched him be taken into the infirmary.
Someone placed their hand on my shoulder, "It's going to be all right." I faced my brother. He hugged me, but the tears kept coming.
"Come on." Haiden told me, "I know what's going on."
Mason nodded, and I followed her to the Big House. My vision went blurry.
Haiden bursted through the doors, "Chiron!" She called, and in response the centaur made his way towards us. "Don't tell me this is-"
"It is." The man remarked. They shared a look of worry.
"What's happening?" I managed to ask between breaths.
The daughter of Athena faced me, "It's a sickness. It can be passed to someone in several different ways, but- I don't know how someone got it into camp."
"What?" My mind swirled with confusion.
Chiron spoke, "You see, Bridger is sick because of a liquid that comes from the underworld. There's no way a demigod could obtain such a thing unless they had help."
"Well how do we cure it!" I half-screamed.
"You need to collect multiple objects, but they can't all be found here in New York."
"Another quest." I whispered.
"There is no other way. We have to find these objects. Haiden, how many are sick?"
Haiden shook her head, "Too many. How long do we have?"
"Back then, they only had a week, but the time has increased." Chiron looked towards me, "Beth, if Bridger doesn't get this cure in less than a month- he's dead."
