CHAPTER FOUR
Carmen didn’t talk to me the rest of the weekend. At school I wanted to see her and try to patch things up. I caught her in the hall before first period.
“Carmen!” I yelled to get her attention.
“Hi,” was all she said.
“Hey, do you wanna do something after school today?” I asked in an attempt to make her happy with me again.
“Like what?”
“Anything. I just wanna be with you.”
“Well you can pick me up at my place and treat me to dinner,” replied Carmen with a sly grin.
“It’s a date. I’ll pick you up at eight.”
We confirmed the plans and headed to our destinations. Carmen seemed satisfied, and so was I. I decided to focus on fixing things with my girlfriend rather than obsessing over some stupid guy that I couldn’t care less about.
In class, Josh told me all the details about his time with Marcy after Carmen and I left.
“It happened dude!” exclaimed Josh.
“What did?”
“Me and Marcy. We went all the way.”
“Seriously? Already?” I asked.
“The girl doesn’t waste time, man.”
“I can see that.”
“It was awesome. When I was banging her she kept yelling my name. She couldn’t get enough.”
An image came into my mind of Josh having sex with Marcy as he described the situation. I noticed myself starting to get a boner. Whoa! What the fuck? I thought to myself. I tried to suppress it, but the more he went on the more I got turned on. Thinking about his naked body gave me flashbacks of when we were 14 and in his bedroom. I had to stop him before my thoughts got any more out of hand.
“I get it, dude.” I said, cutting him off.
“I thought you wanted to know the whole story.”
“I get the gist of it.”
That ended our conversation about that subject. Thank God. I don’t know if I could have taken any more of it.
At lunch I sat around with Josh and a few other guys from the soccer team, just joking and laughing. One of the guys was telling us about how he made out with this chick and a week later found out it was his cousin. The guys had a field day with it. I couldn’t stop laughing. In the middle of my fit of laughter someone across the cafeteria caught my attention. I looked closer to see if I had really seen what I thought I saw. No, it couldn’t be. It couldn’t be him. Maybe it was just a guy that looked like him. But what if it was really him? What was he doing here? My heart started pounding and my thoughts were all scattered. It wasn’t until now that I noticed Josh calling my name.
“Blake! What are you staring at dude?”
“Nothing,” I replied.
“You were totally zoned out,”
“I…I’ll be right back,” I said, and then got up to go over to him.
