Screaming, I could hear a girl screaming her lungs out. At first I thought it was someone else screaming, not my vulnerable friend Skye. But who else could it be? There's no one else in the forest, but me and Skylar. From the screaming mess of her voice, I could tell she was in danger. My poor defenceless friend is against a bear. Or so I thought she was.
Once I reached her, I could see her struggling against a dark figure. As soon as she saw me, she screamed "KAYDEN GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE HE CATCHES YOU!"
"Now why would I do that, if he was the one I'm looking for?" I heard the dark figure reply, as he released Skylar.
"Say what now?" I asked him, slightly confused about what's happening right now.
"Yeah you heard me correctly, she was just the bait. So that I could get you here to have a nice chat."
"And why's that?" I asked the dark figure, curious on what he wants me to do.
"Nothing in particular really, I just want you to steal some items for me." He answered my question, like it wasn't that important to him.
"And what if I don't do what you ask eh?"
"If you don't then, I will just kill your little friend here right before your eyes."
"You wouldn't dare." I exclaimed in shock.
"Oh I would, trust me Kayden. If you want to see your pretty friend here alive, then you must do as I say."
I hesitate for a moment, thinking what I should do. If I don't then he will kill Skylar, but if I do he will leave her unharmed.
"Can I have a few moments to think about that please?" I asked him.
"Take your time, I know you will pick the right decision anyway. You have no choice, but do as I say. If you ever want to see your lovely friend here alive." The dark figure replied with malice.
"Kayden, just do what he says. I'll even be his hostage, so that you could get this criminal job of his done for him." Skylar said, getting my attention. As I looked into her eyes, I knew this guy was serious about his intentions.
"Fine... I will do your job, it's not like I have a choice anyway." I said hesitating with my answer but if that's what Skylar wants me to do. I'll do it anyways, just for her sake.
"A very wise decision my friend." The dark figure replied with a smile.
"Yeah, yeah what is it that you want me to do?" I asked him.
"Now, now there's no need for that. Just be patient my child."
"Just spit it out already." I replied angrily.
This guy was really testing my patience. Can he just tell me what I have to do, Skylar's life is on the line here. And he's acting like it's no big deal. But guess what? It is a big deal to me, I want to save my fucking friend and if he doesn't understand that then there's no reason to why I should kill him right here on this very spot.
Now, now Kayden just breathe. This guy is trying to rile you up, don't let him do that to you. Just act calm and accept what he has to say. I could hear my subconscious in my mind trying to calm me down. Which definitely worked, not going to lie to be honest.
"Okay fine, I'll tell you."
"Go on then."
"I want you to go to the Smithsonian in Washington DC to steal the mythological scythe and robe of the Grim Reaper."
"Is that all?" I questioned him.
"No that's not all, I also ordered some mythological creatures to capture you, so that it would be even harder for you to accomplish your mission."
"Oh great, what a bummer." I replied, groaning at his intentions.
"Once you have survived and accomplished your mission, meet me back in the forest and you will see an abandoned house here. Plus in the meantime, I'm taking your pretty friend here as a hostage. So that you don't do any funny business."
"That wasn't part of the deal." I remarked at his final intentions.
"I know child, but I'm full of surprises as you can see. So run along to your petty friends and finish your job."
"Well I never."
"Just go Kayden, I'll be fine." Skylar interjected, interrupting my conversation with the dark figure.
"Fine, I'm going but if you dare lay a hand on her. I will kill you. Do you understand?" I threatened him.
"Yes, of course. Nothing bad will happen to her. You have my word." The dark figure said, pleasing me for once.
As I left the place, I knew that Skylar is in safe hands or so I hope she is.
POV BREAK
ENTERING MIND TERRITORY
Subconscious: Don't worry Kayden, she will be fine.
Kayden: Do you always come at a bad time? Jeez.
Subconscious: My bad, whoops but you just have to focus on the task in hand.
Kayden: Yeah of course I will. I won't let Skylar being captured, get to me.
Subconscious: That's good; you need a clear mind to do many things, if you want to achieve success of course.
Kayden: Yeah, yeah are you done now?
Subconscious: Yeah I've finished talking... (Silence)
EXITING MIND TERRITORY
POV CONTINUED
I arrived back seeing my friends in the open horizon. They looked at me, with their dull facial expressions. I could sense they were wondering why Skylar, wasn't by my side like she usually is.
