The car ride home was a bust, no one was speaking. Probably because of the commotion that happened at the mall. This wasn't my fault, it was Skylar's.

Is it her fault?

I heard my subconscious say, in the back of my mind. Well of course, it's her fault. Why wouldn't it be?

Are you sure?

Yes I'm sure that its her fault. She's the one who caused all this.

It could also be your fault?

How can this possibly be my fault? What makes you think that?

Well both of you made a commotion, so technically it's both of your faults.

You do have a point, well I guess I was wrong to blame it on her. I should apologise to her, once we get home.

All of a sudden, the engine of the car sputtered and groaned to a stop in the middle of nowhere. I heard the groaning sound of Skylar in the driver's seat, bumping her head on the steering wheel.

"Great, just great..." Skylar said.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing Kayd and I thought you didn't want me to speak to you remember?"

"I was joking."

"Didn't seem like you were joking..." Skylar deadpanned.

"I'm sorry..."

"For what?"

"For making a huge scene at the mall, it was obviously both of our faults." I answered her.

"Um what do you mean both of our faults? Technically it was all your fault." Skylar snapped.

"Can we just forget what happened at the mall and live on with our lives?"

"Don't you dare change the subject Kayden. You always do this when we have an argument. But I have no time right now to argue with you. I got to call a mechanic to fix my car." She replied with frustration.

"Fine, be that way then. I was only trying to apologise."

"You call that apologising? I call that pathetic."

"Well then, I'm just going to keep my mouth shut from now on." I said, crossing my arms.

"Good, at least I don't have to hear your annoying voice talking." Skylar replied in a harsh tone and left the car.

POV BREAK

ENTERING MIND TERRITORY

Kayden:

Ugh, why does she think it's my fault?

Subconscious:

Cause you were the one who started the commotion.

Kayden:

Wait a minute.

Subconscious:

Yes?

Kayden:

Now why are you saying I started it, when you said a while back that it was both our faults.

Subconscious:

Well, the girl is always right, so you have to agree with her.

Kayden:

You could have said that earlier...

Subconscious:

I didn't want to say it.

Kayden:

Why not!

Subconscious:

I am your subconscious, Kayden. I'm not supposed to help you. I'm supposed to just stand by and let you learn from your mistakes.

Kayden:

Well then...

Subconscious:

There's no need to pout.

Kayden:

I'm not pouting.

Subconscious:

Yes you are. But there's no time for this. I sense Skylar's presence approaching the car door.

Kayden:

Good timing.

LEAVING MIND TERRITORY

POV CONTINUED

"I just phoned the mechanic he won't be here until tomorrow morning." I heard Skylar say, getting in the car.

"So we're stranded for a day, great." I replied.

"It's not my fault that the car broke down."

"Like it's not your fault, when you also argued back with me at the mall." I deadpanned.

"Why are you bringing this up again?" Skylar questioned.

"Oh I don't know. Maybe because you won't admit that it was also your fault, besides mine."

"What do you want me to say Kayden? That it's also my fault for the commotion back there?"

"You know what, why do I bother? I'm just being a good friend."

"A good friend won't fucking spy on their friends." Skylar replied, leaving the car.

We were in the middle of nowhere, with only nature to keep us company. Looking out the window of the car, I could see signs.

They said:

Beware of the bear!

WATCH OUT!

Don't go in the forest!

The signs made me worry about Skylar's safety. Made me wonder if she was alright on her own. In my head, I could hear my subconscious telling me to find her.

So I left the car and followed the way Skylar went. Hoping I could find her in time, before she encountered the bear.
