Morgan's POV
"You had a brother?" I asked.
"I wasn't the only child," Scarlett nodded. "There are personal reasons why I helped on Dustin's case last year." I looked at her. "Something I'll wait to tell you when I know you better."
Mrs. Powers walked out of the room and closed the door. "He's asking for you," Mrs. Powers looked at Scarlett. Scarlett nodded and walked into the room. Closing the door behind her. "Why is he so attached to Agent Diamond?"
"Agent Diamond was the one who rescued him," I replied. "She's only doing her job, ma'am."
"Well, look how well they interact with each other," Mrs. Powers replied. "Agent Morgan, tell me, if I sign over my rights as the parent, will Agent Diamond adopt Dustin?"
"Dustin's an eight year old boy," I looked at her. "Why do you want Agent Diamond to be his legal guardian?"
"I just want him to be happy," Mrs. Powers replied.
"You do realize she's only nineteen, right?" I asked. She looked at me. "Scarlett Diamond is only nineteen years old."
"Why does she interact with Dustin so well?" Mrs. Powers nodded.
"She has a younger brother. I don't know much about him but that's probably how she knows how to talk to Dustin. Then again, she is his hero. Other than his little soldier, Jack, there."
"Promise me that she'll take care of him," Mrs. Powers looked at me.
"Personally, I have to say she will take care of him. But she probably won't be able to considering the occupation we have as an agent. Mrs. Powers, I think you should take the chance and get your son and get to know him. She's a tough girl, but I don't think she wants to be a parent just yet." I watched Scarlett interact with Dustin. "I can tell Scarlett to see if she can convince Dustin to go and stay with you. I suggest to stay in Quantico for a while and we'll give you a call as soon as he comes around." Mrs. Powers nodded and left. "You can't keep in, Scarlett." Hotch walked over to me. "Are you going to tell Scarlett she can't keep Dustin?"
"No, you are," Hotch looked at me.
"Hotch," I had my hands out to the side as Hotch walked to his office door. "Man, she hates me."
"I'm surely not telling her," Hotch disappeared into his office.
"Great," I groaned. I knocked on Scarlett's window and motioned her to come out of the room. She did and closed the door. "So, how he's doing?"
"He keeps asking if he can come stay with me," Scarlett replied. "He only feels safe with me. I'm trying to tell him to go stay with his mom, Jackie, but he doesn't want to because he doesn't really know her."
"Look, Scarlett, you can't —"
"Yes, I know, Captain Obvious," Scarlett stated with a little attitude. "Don't you think I know that?" We looked at Dustin. "If you wanna try and talk to him, be my guest. I've tried but I don't think you can do any better." She sighed. "Hey JJ, you wanna see if you can get through to Dustin?"
"Yeah," JJ replied as Scarlett went towards the restrooms. She walked up to me. "What was that all about?"
"I'm sensing a little rude behavior from her," I replied. "I don't know if that's towards me or everyone."
"Only you, my friend," JJ replied as she walked into the room.
"Why does she hate me?" I asked. I sat at Rossi's desk, across from Reid. "Hey Kid. What is the percentage of women hating a guy like me?"
"Scientific studies doesn't really study that because women have their own preferences," Reid replied. "But it's all about the heart, if we wanna go with emotions. It's better to think with your heart than your brain when it comes to love." I looked at Reid. "That's all I know, Morgan."
Hotch walked out to us. "Guys, we have a case," Hotch replied. We all walked into the conference room. JJ was still with Dustin and Scarlett was still using the bathroom. "Okay, I'm going to wait for Scarlett."
"Hotch, can you team Scarlett up with someone else?" I asked. Hotch raised a brow. "She treats me like she hates me."
"Okay," Hotch replied. Scarlett walked in. "Scarlett, you're new partner is Reid."
"That's fine," Scarlett replied sitting next to Reid. JJ walked in. "Is Dustin okay?"
"I got him to go home with Agent Caldwell for the night," JJ replied. "We gotta find a stabled home for him since he doesn't want to go with his mother."
"Okay, so this case is a little gruesome if you ask me and it's in Seattle, Washington," Garcia replied pulling up the pictures on the screen. "There are innocent people walking around and then their heads just explode. Literally."
I looked at the file. "Three vics already," I sighed. "Anything similar between them?"
"All three have went to see a therapist thinking there's beeping in their heads," Garcia replied. "Only now, it was the beeping of the bomb."
"How was it implanted in them in the first place?" Scarlett asked.
"They had brain tumors," Garcia replied. "My bet is on the doctor that does their surgery."
"Even after an MRI or CAT scan, it wasn't detected?" Scarlett asked.
"Those scans detect metal, and there's a possibility these were made of plastic," Reid replied.
"Explains why they weren't in the scans," Hotch nodded. "Wheels up in ten so we can get there by morning." I nodded. "Get your things ready now."
We boarded the jet and took off. "So, how exactly are we going to catch this guy?" Scarlett asked. "We don't know who the next victim is."
"Hello, my lovely crime fighters," Garcia popped up on the screen.
"What do you have for us, mama?" I asked.
"Victim number four," Garcia replied.
"He's escalating," I replied. "Thanks for the information, baby girl."
