"Hold them off." Zayn quickly said, letting me go as he ran off to Daniel's body.
"What are you doing!?" I ran over to him, watching him drag Daniel by the legs.
"This son of a bitch doesn't deserve a proper burial." He muttered, picking the body up and tossing it straight over the edge.
With a grunt from Zayn's lips after the toss, Daniel's bloody body fell into the water with a big splash. The water waves slowly calmed and went back to seeming normal.
"Plus, somebody had to feed those fishes down there."
Leave it to Zayn to make a bad joke at a time like this.
"Can you take me home now? I want this to be over."
The paramedics ran over to Natalie's body. Thankfully, to some extent, it was too dark to see both Zayn and I standing on the other side of the bridge.
held onto Zayn as the paramedics arrived on the scene. I turned my face a little to catch a last glimpse of her. Her blood horrifically resembled the red lipstick she would always wear. I hid my face into Zayn's chest again, terrified of what else was to come. Maybe everything that made us fall apart and suffer hell and back was gone and dead, or maybe it was just starting.
"Can we go home now? I'm scared." I whispered, looking up at him.
Even while he looked like a lone pup who had just watch their owner leave them and drive off, he still looked beautiful. His lashes were long and slapped against his cheeks with his plump lips eager to be devoured by a pair of gentle lips to seal the void inside him. I admired him for a while, but got his attention again once the paramedics had left with Natalie's body.
"Zayn."
He finally looked down at me.
"Please, let's go home."
"Home?"
"Home."
I cupped his face, looking up at him. A single tear rolled down my cheek after some time. Zayn looked down into my eyes and slowly kissed me. Without any resistance or thought, I kissed him back. Nobody could ever figure him out. Nobody could ever figure out what exactly he liked and didn't like, what his tears looked like, what his desperation smelt of, but I could.
We went to the hotel where we had been staying and entered the rooms. I went into mine and collected my things, My bag was fairly small, but I didn't mind it all. Zayn went into his room and stared at the table that had make up scattered everywhere. Eye shadow of all color sorts rested over the different shades of lip gloss left abandoned. The red lip stick that Natalie always wore was stood stiff in front of the mirror. Zayn walked over slowly and picked it up. The perfume that had a mixed scent of Jasmine and a fruit like smell was half empty on the table as well. Zayn let out a sigh, pouting his lower lip a smidge as he put it back in the exact location it was left.
"You done?" I knocked, opening the door.
I noticed him looking down by the mirror and walked out slowly, waiting for him in the hallway instead. A few minutes went by until he finally came out with his bag. His eyes were cold and rotted with hatred, but I could sense him trying to cool down.
Once we collected our things and walked out, we kept walking to the airport. It wasn't too far, or maybe it was far, but it felt like a couple of minutes as Zayn and I kept conversation going.
"He's gone now. Try to relax and think of all the good things. You don't have to walk around with a gun, being all paranoid and odd." I told him.
"He's one guy."
"Yeah, but that's one less that you need to worry about."
I stopped and stared at him. He walked a little in front of me, before he made a stop and turned around.
"You promised there would be no more problems, Zayn."
"I'm not a miracle worker, Serenity."
"Well, you're human and have a brain, so use it to get out of your problems. You and I both know we can't keep living like this forever. I don't want to go back to just being a rag doll you have sex with, then you forget I even exist until you want to have sex again."
"It'll work out." He simply said and kept walking.
I sighed and followed his trail. Zayn eventually just stopped and threw me on his back. I held onto him, carrying my bag tightly. The piggy back ride to the airport entrance was fairly fun for me. He spun me around, accidentally dropping me.
"Thanks." I rolled my eyes, getting up and laughing it off.
He checked the flights as I sat down and waited. I tucked my hands into my pocket, feeling some kind of rolled of paper inside my coat.
"What the..?"
A bunch of rolled up money was left in my coat. I gasped and stared at it. Zayn came back and was just as surprised.
"This isn't yours..?" I asked, holding it up for him.
"No, where did you get that?"
"I don't know! It was in my coat."
Zayn, being himself, didn't question it and enjoyed free money. He stuffed it into his pocket and kissed my forehead.
"I hope you didn't sleep with anyone for that money, but good girl for having it." He half heartily joke and ran off again.
"Funny." I growled, not amused by his joke as I kept on waiting.
Zayn returned with a ridiculous huge bear and a few roses. My jaw dropped and I couldn't help but laugh at how idiotic he looked. A grown man was running to me in an over stuffed pink bear with red roses that smelled like they had been freshly sprayed with perfume.
"Where did you steal that from?" I smirked, joking back for the prostitute joke.
"Funny." He rolled his eyes and handed me the bear and roses.
"This thing is so big, it could count as a person. We'll need at least three tickets."
"Speaking of ticket, flight leaves in an hour. We have a little bit of time to just relax." He sat back with me.
We spoke a lot and despite all that had happened this crazy week, we laughed and smiled, looking like an ordinary couple on holiday to everyone else. Zayn's phone rang all of a sudden.
"I gotta take this." He murmured after seeing the caller ID.
"Okay.." I nodded and watched him run off, but he stayed in distance so I could watch him.
I bought my knees up and smelled each of the roses, beginning to pluck the pedals off of one.
He loves me, he loves me not. He loves me, he loves me not.
Zayn came back over after a few minutes and had a little bit of uncertainty in his facial expression.
"Is everything okay?" I asked, losing track of which pedal I was on.
"I need you to do something and I'm only going to make you do this just this one time."
"What is it?" I asked, looking up at him.
Our flight number was called.
"I'll tell you on the plane." Zayn seemed unhappy.
The walk from here all the way to board the plane with all these crazy thoughts was going to drive me insane.
