Oliver POV

I sit on the floor, Annabeth claims the circular chair in the corner and Hayden and Lilly sit on Annabeth's bed. Caedyn sits with his back against the wall with Alivia in his lap.

I absentmindedly look up to the ceiling. A spider! Annabeth hates spiders. Hopefully she doesn't see it. Oh no she looked at me! She is looking where I was looking. She whimpers and pulls her knees up to her chest. Tears fall from her eyes and she's shivering and trembling.

"No, no, no, no, please it's not my fault-" She whispers over and over "Percy help, Percy don't let me fall alone, it's not my fault, help!"

I get up to go comfort her, but the bathroom door opens and Percy comes running, pushing me out of the way. I stumble back but go circle around her with the others.

"Back away you guys she needs some space." Percy says calmly.

"Leave me alone! My mom will kill you. Percy will kill you," she sobs quietly.

"Annabeth it's okay, we aren't down there anymore. Please come back, we're safe, the giants are gone, she's dead. You're safe," He says over and over until she starts breathing normally.

He is kissing her and hugging her. I feel like a third wheel watching him soothe her and hold her while she sniffles. And what was all that about dead people and giants?

"Percy.." She whispers. Annabeth touches him as if making sure that he's real.

"What happened?" he asks us.

"She saw the spider that's there on the ceiling." I say pointing to the spider.

Percy glares at it and raises his hand. The spider falls off the ceiling, shriveled up and dead. What?

"Don't worry guys she's okay, it's just well me and her have a complicated history and it's hard to explain. Her mom hates me and would kill me if I told you guys the details."

"It didn't seem like Helen hated you." I point out.

"Helen isn't her real mom, don't you know that?" Percy asks me.

"Of course but I thought her real mom had died or something"

"No her real mom is very much alive, unfortunately."

"She'll kill you for that Percy," Annabeth says with a weak smile, startling everyone.

"Probably."

Annabeth apologizes and we get back to normal. We watch a movie and then fall asleep, all of us in Annabeth's room. In the morning we have blue waffles and then we go home with goodbyes and promises to meet up on the first day of school.
