Chapter 2:Going

Mike

In the middle of the night, I woke up. I thought for a few minutes about what I was going to do. I decided to sneak out, go to Will's house, and into the shed where a gate of the Upside Down was located at. I sat up in my bed and put some socks on. I got up and walked downstairs very quietly.

When I got downstairs, I looked around to see if anyone was around. I slowly made it to the door and opened it. I got outside and the cool air instantly hit my face. I walked to where I parked my bike. I got on it and started pedaling. I knew I had to get to Wills'.

When I got to Will's house, I walked to his backyard. There was the shed. I stepped in and turned the light on. I looked around until I saw it. The gateway to the Upside Down. I swallowed. I was afraid of what I would come across, but I was determined to find El.

I stepped into the gateway and instantly felt tense. Debris and dust was floating through the air. I took out the flashlight that I had packed. I turned it on and started to walk around. I kept hearing soft footsteps. I would turn around and find nothing. The next time I turned around I saw her. Eleven. She still had on the light pink dress. I ran to her and put my arms around her. "El, we have to go." She nodded and grabbed my hand. I ran out of there as fast as I could.

"Mike" I said.

"Yeah, El?"

"Promised."

Mike

"Oh! El, It's too late for the snowball." I responded as I biked into my driveway.

We stepped inside very quietly and stepped down into the basement. El's bed was still there and she sat down in it. She looked hungry so I brought a few Eggos down to her. I looked into her big brown eyes. I knew she was disappointed but there's always next year. "El." "Yes, Mike?" "I love you." "What's love?" "Love is when you really like someone more than a friend." I replied.

"Mike?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you too."

I went to bed after that and slept well for the first time in a while.
