Team RWBY and JNPR sat at their lunch table with the four girls on the left side with their backs to the window and their fellow team on the right. Everyone was up to their regular antics. Nora was throwing food while Yang was trying to catch it with her mouth. Ren and Blake were quietly reading, with Ren reading a history book for Oobleck's class and Blake re-reading Ninjas of Love (for the plot of course). While they were doing that Jaune was telling one of his many stories of growing up with seven sisters, with Weiss doing her best to ignore him by doing her nails as Pyrrha and Ruby listened to him occasionally giggling when he would mention any of his "brother/sister bonding" tales (turns out the dance was not the first time he was in a dress, just the first time he willingly put one on). Everything was going just like every other day. Then a certain someone walked into the cafeteria that caught the youngest huntress-in-training's attention.

It was (Y/N), a transfer student from Vacuo. He was a unique one, to say the least. He never really talked that much and whenever a teacher would allow the students to work in groups he would always opt to work alone. If anyone offered he would always sorta smile, shake his head no, and go back to whatever he was doing. Once Ruby even tried to get him to work with her team. She constantly asked him over and over to work with them but all she got out of him was a quiet "No thank you". Another thing that made him stick out was that he was the only one-man team at Beacon, the first one in a long time too. Maybe that was why he preferred to work alone he just didn't want attention for being the one-man team or he was just so shy that he requested to be alone. Or maybe he was so anti-social because of the three large diagonal scars on his face. The middle scar going from the top right of his forehead to the bottom left side of his chin with the other two sandwiching it between them. All of these things are what piqued Ruby's curiosity.

Having noticed her little sister stare at (Y/N) for a long time, Yang decided to investigate.

"Hey sis, what you looking at?" The blonde brawler asked Ruby, fully aware of what, or more appropriately who, her sister was looking at.

"Hm? What?" Ruby blushed, realizing that she was not only staring at (Y/N), but was also caught by her sister. "Oh um... I was just looking around. Yeah, that's what I was doing. Hehe..."

Not being fooled by Ruby's attempt at a cover-up, Yang continued to pester her, "Really? Because it looked like you were staring at (Y/N) over there." Everyone at the table looked at their youngest compatriot upon hearing Yang's little comment. This only made the huntress blush a shade of red similar to the red hood she is commonly wearing.

"N-no, I was just looking around and happened to look in his direction. That's all."

"Oh come on, little sister, just admit it." Yang leaned in and nudged her little sister with her elbow.

"Okay yeah, I was looking at (Y/N)." Ruby admitted with a sigh.

Yang pumped her arm into the air in victory "Haha, knew it! You got the hots for him or something?"

Ruby shrieked "What?!" gaining the attention of a couple of fellow students seated at the nearby tables. Trying to gain control of the situation, Pyrrha finally spoke up while Blake tried to reel in her partner.

"It's alright, Ruby. It is normal for someone to worry about their fellow classmate." The young champion said trying to conciliate the young huntress. Though Pyrrha's usual smile that she wore soon turned into a concerned frown when the redhead champion's thoughts turned to the person that the two sisters were talking about. "(Y/N) especially."

After Pyrrha's little comment got the rest of the group's attention, everyone then looked to the hunter-in-training. Said young man was currently trying to get his food as quickly as possible while trying to not be seen. Suddenly, he stiffens and looks around as if aware that his fellow classmates were watching him. Everyone turned away quickly as to not be caught staring. After (Y/N) had gotten his food he quickly made his way out of the cafeteria. After they were sure he was gone, they continued to talk. Weiss spoke up first in a condescending tone.

"Why are you all so concerned about him? If he wants to be alone, then let him be alone." Ruby looks at her partner with shock.

"Weiss he's our classmate. Aren't you even a little bit concerned about him?"

"Yeah, Weiss-cream." Yang leans in and nudges the heiress with her elbow. "I'm not saying we should all become besties, but he is acting pretty weird." Weiss rolls her eyes in response. Jaune then speaks up.

"Weiss has a point, guys. I know it might be a little disheartening at how antisocial (Y/N) can be, but if he wants to be alone then let him be alone. Plus we all confront him at once out of nowhere, then we might just scare him off." Ruby puffs out her cheeks in frustration.

"See? Even Jaune gets what I'm saying."

"Thank you, Snow Angel... Hey!" Yang and Pyrrha, seeing that Ruby is still pouting, try to cheer her up.

"Oh come on sis it's okay. I'm sure he's just super shy, that's all." Nodding Pyrrha adds on to Yang's words.

"Yes, I agree, and the fact that you are concerned speaks volumes." Ruby finally lets her face fall back to normal and puts her head down on the table.

"I still just wish he would open up..." Before she can continue the bell rings, signaling lunch's end. As everyone is leaving, Ruby stays in her seat. Noticing this, Yang goes back to her little sister.

"Hey, come on Rubes, lunch is over. Time to go to Port's class for a nap." Ruby just stays there, not responding. After letting out a sigh Yang continues, "This whole (Y/N) thing is really eating you up, isn't it?" Ruby does the closest thing she can to a nod while still having her head on the table. "Look maybe Jaune, Pyrrha, and I are right about him being shy. Maybe the next time we get a group project you could ask him to work with just you. If it's just one person instead of a whole group, he might actually work with you. Or you could see if he wants to study with you in the library. He may be more open to working in a public place like there than somewhere like the dorms." Ruby perks up from her sister's words.

"That's it! Thanks, Yang you're a genius. I'll go ask (Y/N) right now!" With that, the crimsonette rushes off to find the quiet young man. Yang grins with accomplishment and from Ruby's comment.

"Hehe, I am a genius, aren't I? Wait... No, Ruby, I didn't mean ask him now!" The blonde brawler then rushes after the young huntress.
