Totally Not A Date

A few days later

Ruby's POV

Okay so getting (Y/N) to hang out with me hasn't been working out too much. Ever since we crashed into each other I haven't been able to talk to (Y/N). Either I get swept up in my team's antics, he leaves, or I get too busy with all the homework I have. But today is the day. We are in class and I was able to get a seat next to (Y/N). Well, it's not so much as next to, since we are at the ends of the desks and have the little walkway in between us, but it's closer than I've been able to get for a while. This way the moment class ends, I can jump over and ask him out- I mean to ask if he is willing to study with me. Yeah, that's it, study. Why am I getting flustered about this? Just then the bell rang. I turned to talk to (Y/N), but was interrupted by team CRDL rushing down the stairs.

"Finally the weekend's here!" Cardin spoke loudly. Rolling my eyes I wait for the team to get out of my way. What? Where's (Y/N) quickly scanning the room I see him at the exit. How did he get there so fast? I jump out of my seat and rush over to him. Once outside and into the hallway I see him turn the corner at the end of the hall. Oh no, he's not getting away from me that easily! I rush down the hall careful not to activate my semblance this time. Don't want what happened last time to repeat itself. Once around the corner, I don't see him. How does he move so fast? Before I can start searching, however, I am interrupted by someone.

"H-hey Ruby. Are you l-looking for someone?" Turning around I see (Y/N) standing there like he was expecting me.

"(Y/N)! You startled me." He looks upset at that and shied away.

"S-sorry."

"No no! It's fine. I just wasn't expecting you to be there. Usually, when I try to talk to you it's like you teleport away or something." Gasping I then lean into him and excitedly ask him, "Is that your semblance?!" He looks at me startled before lightly chuckling,

"N-no that's not my semblance." Stepping away I look down embarrassed at my little outburst.

"Oh, hehe, sorry."

"It's f-fine. D-did you need something?" I perk up at his words reminding me what my original plan was.

"Oh right! Would you like to study with me?" I smile widely at him hoping I don't scare him off. He looks at me a little worried and I continue to try and reassure him. "You know just you and me. We could go to the library and study there. Nice, quiet, open space. Not many people would be able to bother us." Mentally I facepalm myself. It sounds like I'm asking him out on a date! Which it most definitely is not one. He's definitely not going to want to do this. I am pulled from my thoughts by his voice.

"Ruby?" Hesitantly I answer.

"Yeah?"

"D-did you hear what I j-just said?" Crabs did he say something while I was lost in thought?!

"Um no..."

"I s-said sure." For a moment I stand there before jumping up and down and then grabbing onto him while squeeing.

"Really?! You are okay with this?!" Why am I getting so excited over this? We are just studying.

"Y-yeah I am okay with it. I c-could use extra study time. Plus it's not like a d-date or anything, r-right?" See Ruby even (Y/N) gets that this is just studying. It's just two classmates studying for class, that's all. Though it doesn't explain why I feel a little disappointed that after he says that.
