Lunchtime finally came around and I headed over to the cafeteria. I saw Lily getting in the lunch line, so I grabbed a tray and stood with her.

"So, how'd you do?" Lily looked up at me wriggling her eyebrows. "You know it takes them a few days to give us back our grades right?" I laughed a bit. "Oh yeah, guess I forgot?"

"And you're supposed to be the smart one," I giggled and continued down the lunch line. "Ha. Ha. Ha." She rolled her eyes and playfully punched me.

We grabbed a sandwich, some fruit, drinks, and cashed out at the register.

"Okay, so besides the bio test, anything else happen?" She asked as we walked towards to an empty table.

"Well, we got a new seating chart," I sat down and cleared some of the trash left on the table from previous lunch periods.

My other group of friends shouted for me to come sit with them, but I shook my head, "Maybe another time!"

"And?" She asked anxiously.

"And, I got put next to Justin." I finally looked at her. "Well, that's not too bad is it? I mean you've complaining for who knows how many weeks, to get a chance to finally talk to him. So, this is your chance right?" "First off, I haven't been complaining. And second, yeah I guess you're right, but it all seems... I don't know, forced?"

She raised an eyebrow at me as she ate her sandwich. "I mean, of course we're gonna talk because we'll most likely be biology partners, so it's bound to happen. But what else are we gonna talk about besides cells and their DNAs? We haven't spoken in like what? A year?"

She nodded letting me know that she understood and drank some of her water. "Well," I sighed. "Enough about me, so what did Daniel have to say this morning?" "Don't even start," she pointed her finger at me.

As if on cue, Daniel came by the table, "Hey guys, mind if sit here?" Lily mouthed 'no' to me, but I answered instead, "Nope, the more the merrier." Glancing at Lily, she glared at me, keeping her facial expression hidden from him.

I laughed and continued eating my lunch, plopping grapes into my mouth one by one.

The rest of the day flies by fast and I find myself going to my locker when I see Daniel again, standing by it.

"Uh, hey Daniel..." I started putting my books back into my locker.

"Be honest with me," he moved the door of the locker coming into view. His golden hair was ruffled, which was set on purpose since you could see some parts where the hair gel was concentrated. He scrunched up his nose, bringing the sparse amount of freckles on his cheeks close together.

With curiosity playing upon his hazel eyes, he asked me, "Does Lily not like me or something?

I raise an eyebrow, "why do you say that?"
"I don't know, she doesn't say much when I'm with her. I seem to be doing all the talking."

I close my locker, "Look Daniel, Lily does like you! I mean, of course she does. You're friends, so why wouldn't she?"

"That's not exactly-" "Yeah I know," I interrupted him and raised up one hand. "Even if she's my best friend, it's not my place to tell you how she feels, sorry Daniel."
