I jumped out of my car the minute I had parked in the driveway and ran to Justin's truck.
"You need to go," I told him as I pushed on his chest.
"What? Why?" He closed his door looking back at me. "I'm not gonna leave after driving up to your house for nothing Dakota." He looked down at my hand that was still placed on him.
Quickly taking back my hand, I cleared my throat, "Fine. But Kaylee texted me and a couple other people to FaceTime. None of them know that I have any contact with you, whatsoever."
"So what you're telling me is that I need to hide?" He cocked an eyebrow.
"Basically, yes. Now come on," I grabbed his arm and pulled him behind me.
My phone started to ring and there popped up Kaylee's name.
"Hurry up!" I ordered Justin as we ran to my room.
Before I answered the call I looked up at Justin, "Just stay on the opposite side of the room."
He sighed heavily, "Alrighty," and took a seat on the floor.
I tapped the answer button and Kaylee's face appeared. "Where's Gabriella and Grace?"
She rolled her eyes in response, "apparently their parents found out they had snuck out to go to Andy's party last night and got grounded. You were there weren't you?"
"Yeah, I brought a couple people with me too." I made sure my phone was focused on my face only.
"I saw, there was a guy with you. What's his name? He's pretty cute." She smirked at me.
I felt my cheeks redden a bit and I cleared my throat. "Aiden, Lily's older brother." I shook my head, "Anyways, you wanted to talk about Justin?" My eyes glanced to the boy that sat across my bedroom.
"What are you looking at?" Her eyes squinted at her screen as if she could see what I was seeing.
My head snapped back to my phone, "uh, the clock. Just checking what time it was." I heard a muffled laugh from the corner.
"Okay... and yes. Let's talk about that jerk," she huffed. "Can you believe he canceled our date? A date, with me?!" She exasperated and threw an arm up.
"Nope, I can't believe it at all." A small hint of sarcasm dripped in my tone.
"Look Dakota, I know you two used to be close but whatever happened between you guys, you said it was over. So could you really try focusing on me?" She had a pointed look on her face.
Justin coughed, "self-absorbed," and coughed again.
"What was that?" Kaylee asked. I looked at him and responded to her, "That was just my dad from downstairs, I think he's coming down with something."
"Loud cough." I glared at the blonde haired boy as I tilted my phone down a bit so that Kaylee wouldn't see. "Yup," I said while gritting my teeth.
"But is it really that big of a deal?" I returned to the conversation. "Weren't you dancing with Dominic Asher at the party last night? You guys seemed pretty close." I remembered the horrific image of them grinding on one another imbedded into my head.
"Oh yeah, to show Justin that I don't need him. I can get with anyone I want." She smiles proudly.
"So you're using him?" I raised my eyebrows at her.
"No!" She got defensive. "I would never do that. I just realized that getting with the football captain is so much better than trying to be with our star pitcher."
