Newt has just moved to Thomas' town. Newt was nervous that the other kids there would not accept him and start to bully him but that all went away once he met Thomas. See now Thomas is nervous cause he's afraid that Newt will think of him differently.
Thomas isn't like the rest of the kids on his block/neighborhood. He's....different. But so is Newt.
