Caleb's POV.

I sighed and turned to look out the window, It was pouring rain outside and I couldn't stay asleep anymore with the sound of the rain. Jess told me Aleya had gone to do something, but she didn't know what. I really hoped she wasn't chasing Senai around.

I rubbed my very sore shoulder and sat up. Damn it hurt, so much for picking a fight with the alpha.

I almost got myself killed but if I did, it would be worth it.

I didn't mean to give Aleya a scare, I just wanted to have her for my own. Senai was being unfair and inconsiderate to her and that pissed me and my wolf off.

I wanted her and I would gladly enter another battle with the alpha if it's for her.

Embarrassing to say I lost this one but I will surely win the next one.

"Hey." Jess said interrupting my thoughts. "Here's your tea."

"Ugh not that thing." I moaned in disgust.

"Oh, come on. This will speed up your healing."

"I know but it's so gross." I said and rolled my eyes.

"Caleb, I am not arguing with you." She said and sat down on the bed beside me. "My dad says you should take a few extra days off once school starts."

"Hell no, I want to be there." I said taking a tiny sip from the hot cup of disgusting healing tea.

"You are so stubborn, do you want that wound healed? It might open up again if you don't get the proper rest." She said looking at me.

"Hey, I'll make it by Monday alright? I'll rest all you want until then." I said taking a bigger sip from the tea.

"Alright" She paused. "You really pushed it this time you know." She muttered.

"Don't... I know." I said starting to get annoyed gulping down the tea.

"I know you are the beta and all, but you aren't as strong as he is. I mean look at you. Trying to steal an alpha's mate." She said pointing at me.

"Wow, you sure know how to make someone feel better, and it's not called stealing if he doesn't want her." I said leaning back against the bed placing the cup on the nightstand.

"Why do you want her." She asked.

I thought about it for a moment before answering her.

"Because she reminds me of... of Sehvah." I replied.

"You miss her, don't you?" She asked me, playing around with her dark locks of hair. Habit of hers and it was annoying.

"Yeah, I do. More than anything." I answered her.

"I miss her to. She was my best friend." Jess said looking down at her hands.

"But hey, don't feel sad, alright? She's in a better place now. It hurts a lot, but I think we can learn to move on. I know she would have wanted us to." I said and looked at her.

She starred at me for a while and nodded slowly.

"Okay." She gave me a sad smile and stood up. "Caleb, I am going to bring us some food. Wait here okay?

"Yeah sure. Where else would I decide to go? It's not like I am going to get up and get out of here in a hospital gown." I said and gave her a smirk.

She huffed and rolled her eyes walking out.

"It's hard to trust you." She said as she left.

I laughed softly and looked out the window again starring at the pouring rain.
