Chapter 2
The Party
“Hi Izzy!” I shout when my best friend comes in through the door. She’s been there with me through everything. She’s been the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
“Happy Birthday Allie!” She squealed running over to hug me. I hug her back with all my strength. It’s so good to see her again after a couple months. We’ve been really busy so I haven’t been able to see her since her birthday party in February. “How’s Lucius?” She said cheekily and I rolled my eyes.
“He hasn’t shown up yet but I’m sure he’s fine,” I said lightly even though I was a slight bit worried. Usually Lucius shows up on time for everything. I wonder if he’s all right. I hope something didn’t happen. I was snapped out of my thoughts when Izzy started waving her hand in front of my face. “Hmm, what?” I asked hiding my worry.
“Are you alright Allie? You’re acting weird,” She asked.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
“Well that’s good. We wouldn’t want you feeling bad on your birthday would we,” She said smirking. That brought a grin to my face instantly. Izzy looked behind my back and smiled.
“Oh, we wouldn’t? I thought that was our goal,” a familiar voice teased from behind me.
“Luce!” I cried out happily glad nothing happened to him.
“Were you worried?” He asked smirking down at me. He’s like a tower standing beside me. I’m tall but he’s giant.
“No, of course not,” I said looking him in the eyes and then put my head down blushing. Luce always had that effect on me. Ever since I met him if I looked him in the eyes I would blush. I’m so lucky to have a wonderful man like him.
“Oh! I see how it is. Then I guess I’ll just have to do, this!” He said lifting me up bridal style and carried me around.
“Ah! Lucius, put me down now,” I said trying my hardest to be serious and not to laugh but I failed as I let the corner of my mouth slide up, then I burst out laughing hysterically.
“Oh, I see how it is,” He said and put me down gently on a wooden chair and got on the ground. He got down on one knee and took something out of his pocket. He smiled genuinely, took my left hand and held it. “Will you marry me?” He asked sliding a beautiful sapphire ring onto my finger.
I gasped out in shock, “Yes,” He got off the floor and hugged me as tight as he could.
After the party was over and everyone went home I decided to head over to Luce’s. Izzy’s coming with me because she wanted to stay the night with me. He had told me before he left to go over to his place for a surprise. Sebastian grabbed my coat for me and put it on me also. He then went and got the carriage ready. I walked outside with Izzy when the carriage was ready and hopped in. We drove to London because even though Luce is a noble he wanted to live in a small house in Whitechapel. They say the rich are ignorant of the poor, but I know well that the poor are doing horrible at this time. On our drive I look out the small carriage window into the streets of London. One we reach the part of London known as Whitechapel, where Luce lives, you can see prostitutes all over the place. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess, but I have always despised prostitutes.
A few minutes later we pull up in front of Lucius’ house and I get out of the carriage. I hear something coming from inside the house, but I ignore it, dismissing it as a trick of my imagination. Izzy and I walk over to the window and peek in. The house is so small that it’s only one room, so the bed can be seen through the window. I looked over at the bed and saw Luce with a, with a, prostitute.
“Oh my,” Izzy gasped and looked over to me. “Allie, I’m so sorry.”
Luce looked over to the window and saw me. He grinned darkly and continued on. I ran off with tears in my eyes. I ignored Sebastian and Izzy’s calls and kept running. I threw off my engagement ring as I ran down the streets of London. I tripped on the hem of my dress and fell over into the street. I hear the clattering of horse shoes coming closer, and closer. I lay there sobbing in the street unable to move from the oncoming carriage. I scream as a white, hot, pain hits me. I try to stay awake but everything’s slowly fading out as I black out.
//A.N. Sorry if this is going fast ^^;; It's for school and it's a shadow novel of Johnny Tremain and we had to put conflict into this chapter. I hope you enjoy!//
