I walked down the corridor of my vast castle to my room. Where she would be waiting. Gosh, I really was a lover boy... Oh well. I couldn't help it. She has shown me things I could not understand without them being shown in front of my eyes. She tore off the blinders that obscure my freedom to pick my path in life. She has shown me a light and the dark contrast of evil within my father's court. She was but the girl who should have served me wine. She turned out to be so much more.
She spoke of lands where almost everyone has the right to the best quality of life. A life were you do not have to pay people for things you need, only for things you want. Rulers are to be elected and power is not passed down. I want this for my world.
My world was looted, burned, darkened, and shown no mercy. Innocent people die everyday and monstrosities roam the streets for their next meal. The poor die at alarming rates and things seem to never get better for them. She has shown me when I suck out with her. She shows me the truth, and I dare not look away.
I got to my room where she is on her side, across the bed. She has black lingerie on and black heels. She played with her soft blonde hair and look at me with a yearning look. Her oval eyes, small nose, and perfectly sculpted lips were made out to be a marble statue in the dim lighting. She said in her quiet tone, "I missed you."
I laughed and smirked at my babe, "Me too. Where did you get that outfit."
She hopped out of my bed and made her way with the clicking of her heels on the red oak floor, "I had you buy it for me."
I have her a look that you would give a misbehaving brat, "What did I tell you about that?"
She looked down at herself, "But I look cute in this! Do I not?"
I grabbed her hands and pulled her closer to me, "I'm not going to comment."
She giggled in the elegant way she always acts, "But Z-"
I picked her up and put her on my bed, "Oh darling, I just want you to not move and be a good girl."
She laughed out loud throwing her head back then gave me a wild look. She giggled, "Okay my prince."
I thought our love was going to keep us safe. I was going to be king and teach our children the ways of her lands. I wanted a better life for our people. Not one ruled by a greedy, murderous, tyrant. I was going to wait it out and have the patience she wanted me to have. But he changed it all and I vowed it would be his undoing.
I grabbed the war plans he had drawn out to try and defeat the light side with. I shoved them into a bag. I grabbed the gold and jewels for money. As well as a dagger just in case my powers couldn't do me any good. I needed to avenge her death and I didn't care of the costs. This little did I know, this was going to be the journey of a life time. It would make me a stronger man and better king.
As I left, the hunters flew after me. I stretched my wings and flew as fast as I could. I stopped in many places, but my goal was the emperor of one of the light side factions. I got to the city and just as I entered, I was attacked by the hunters. I fought them off as best I could. I got away quickly but I needed a place to heal up. This is when I met Brima for the first time. I now just laugh at the irony. Of all the people I picked her.
She had her head low and a deflated look of defeat. She seemed nice though and nice people have a way of letting you stay for a bit to catch your breath. Maybe if she hadn't looked that way, I wouldn't have met her. A fluke is not the right word nor is fate. Us meeting was something written in the stars. It was such a tiring as beautiful as a baby being born. Like that baby, us meeting has changed the course of our timelines for generations.
She gazed at my eyes and black wings. I tried to hide them but when trying to scare people into helping you as soon as mortality possible, it was useful to have them out. Though, she didn't fear me. She would never fear me. It's something I will never come to understand how. Even when my voice raised at her, she would just stand or sit, then just listen.
But, she wants to tell this story, not I.
