I woke up to the sound of a loud neighbor next door. Their music was loud and it was 3 in the morning. I didn't even know someone had just moved in next door, it had been vacant for so long. I couldn't believe I was actually having to lay here listening to this when I could be sleeping. Even my (Dog/Cat) shot his head up in confusion.

At first I tried to choose the lazy option: bang on the wall to tell whomever to quiet the hell down.

But of course, that didn't work. I had to wake up in 4 hours for work, so either they need to shut up or I'll shut them up.

I got out of bed, cranky from my lack of sleeping. I put a jacket on and grabbed my phone. I lived alone, and lived in a rather rough neighborhood, I always needed my phone on me and 911 already dialed.

When I left the front door, the music stopped. But when I closed it again, the music turned back on. It was like one of those crazy now you see it, now you don't. I started to think I must be dreaming. Just in case I knocked on their door. Instead of an answer, the door opened. The inside was completely dark, the hallway lights began to flicker. For a second I swear I saw my breath. I started to feel a chill go all the way up my spine, it made me shiver with a horrible feeling.

I pressed the call button for 911, and waited anxiously for them to answer, and when they did I was practically screaming because there was now a banging on my door with a similar knocking pattern to the way I did only moments before.

"Hello, 911 Emergency. What is your emergency?" A woman asked.

"Hi! Yes, I think I'm being attacked! I live at 2187 Walnut Boulevard, apartment B24!" I yelled into the phone. I bolted the door and stepped back from it. The vibrations from the music hurt me, how could no one else be hearing this? My (dog/cat), (Y/P/N), was going frantic.

"Ma'am please stay calm, help is on the way." When she said that it was like a breath of fresh air. Everything seemed normal again.

"Calm down, (Y/N), you're going to be okay. Is that all you can remember?" The sheriff asked me. They've been here investigating for an hour now, looks like I won't be getting any sleep.

"Yes." I said, looking away from my boss. I couldn't tell him the last part, he wouldn't believe me.

They found a dead body of a woman in the apartment next door. They think she's a homeless woman who wandered in, but that doesn't explain half the things I experienced last night. They won't let me see the body, which bothers me. I've been the Forensic Investigator of this town for 4 years and they won't even let me do my job. They think what I experienced was a dream.

I was talking to the guard at the door when two men in suits came out. One was shorter than the other, he had slight stubble and charming eyes. He definitely looked like a man who meant business. While the other was much taller, his eyes were so clear and his hair was so soft looking. For someone that should look so intimidating he looked so sweet and sincere. With that I became suddenly very conscious of my current outfit: giant t-shirt and shorts that happen to be covered because of the t-shirt.

"Excuse me, are you the woman who made the call?" The taller one asked.

"Y-yes." I assured them, brushing a quick hand through my hair, "Who are you guys? The cops I normally work with don't usually wear suits."

"FBI, we'd like to ask you a couple of questions." The shorter one explained, stepping out in the hall they showed me their badges. The shorter one is named Jason Hendrix, and the taller one goes by Ted Smith. Something about them seemed off.

"What do the FBI want with a case like this?" I asked, not to seem rude but this seemed like a pretty minor case.

"Uh, we believe this case may be linked to a few others in the area." Smith explained.

"Okay. How can I help?" I offered.

"What exactly happened when you woke up?" Hendrix asked.

I went over the whole situation again. Leaving out the parts that even I couldn't explain.

"And that's all?" Hendrix squinted his eyes at me.

"If I told you anything else you wouldn't believe it." I rubbed my neck in discomfort.

"Try us." Smith replied, his eyes looked so pure. I couldn't help staring at his face for a moment. "Come here." I ushered them into my apartment which the door was open to. They complied without a word.

"Something weird happened." I started, "Look, I'm not crazy. I work as a forensic investigator for my local police station, I know what I'm about to say makes no sense. But it was like it was a ghost. When I heard the music, I banged on my wall - you know? Cuz I was cranky - when it didn't stop I got up and opened the door. When I opened the door to my apartment it stopped. All the music, it was silent. When I closed it, it started again. When I worked up the courage to knock the door was just open, it was completely dark in that room. The lights in the hall flickered, I saw my breath. So I ran back inside, then the knocking happened. It was the same pattern I knocked at but it was so loud. My (dog/cat) was going crazy, I had never seen him like that. I swear, something wasn't right."

"We believe you." Smith told me. He put a hand on my shoulder.

"Do you live here with anyone else that might be able to confirm your story, maybe a sister or a boyfriend?" Hendrix asked, not sly.

"No, no I live alone. No sister, no boyfriend." I confirmed, dear God is this fed trying to hit on me? I mean, don't get me wrong he's attractive but now? Really? Maybe a different time but not today. Smith looked at him the same way I would've.

"Thank you. Here, you give us a call if anything else happens. If you don't feel safe, or if one light flickers." Smith handed me his number. I accepted it and they showed themselves out. I really hope I get the chance to look at him again.
