Click, click.
I stirred for a moment and jerked awake, sitting up with my heart racing.
"Sorry, the two of you just looked so peaceful."
I turned to the sound of the voice and saw Maka sitting on one of the chairs next to what was the bed.
"Yeah, and Liz wouldn't let us wake you up." Soul said, looking annoyed.
"What was that clicking sound?" I asked.
"I had to take a picture of the two of you holding hands like that." Liz said.
I looked beside me and saw Kid sound asleep, and our hands entwined by his head. My heart fluttered a bit seeing him like that, his hair ruffled and messy, and soft breaths escaping his lips.
"I feel bad for Kid." Liz said, "Normally he's a really light sleeper, but I don't think he's slept since... Uh, since you got here."
I frowned and stared down at him, examining him. He hasn't slept in three days?
"Anyway," Maka laughed nervously, "You've got two more meister-weapon pairs here on guard, so you can probably leave Kid to sleep for a bit, right?"
I nodded, slowly pulling my hand from his. His hand twitched towards mine for a second, but luckily he didn't wake up. Slowly I got up from the floor, most of the dizziness of yesterday had disappeared, but my body was still a bit sore.
I stretched for a moment while the others filed out of the room. I looked back down at Kid, who even in his sleep looked beautiful. Something about the way his hair fell over his closed eyes, and his chest rose and fell.
"Raina?" Liz asked, being the last out.
"Oh, sorry." I said and jumped slightly before walking off unsteadily to join the others.
I've never actually been to Kid's house because of you know...
So I really just followed Liz into what looked like a living room, but with more symmetrical perfection. The way here was symmetrical too, and it made me smile a bit too see it.The group sat in various chairs, and I sat on the end of the biggest couch, sinking into it and closing my eyes sleepily. The room was kinda quiet, and when I reopened my eyes I found the group staring at me.
I tensed up and stared down at my lap, trying to ignore it.
"What'd that guy do to you anyway?" Blackstar asked, his loud voice cutting through the silence.
I tensed at his words and pursed my lips together, shaking my head as a sign that I wasn't going to talk about it. I kept my gaze down, but I heard the smacking sound of Maka hitting Blackstar across the head.
"Sorry, but I need to ask." Maka said nervously, "How are you doing now that he's gone?"
I looked up at her for a second, confused by how she phrased her words. "What?"
"I mean, how do you feel now that he's gone?"
The room was tense, and it wasn't hard to see that everyone wanted to know. They've all been out on missions recently, and out looking for my mess. The least I could do was give them some answers.
"I-I... I feel scared. Every time I turn around, I feel like he's going to be there... and I know that if- when he comes back... he's going to want to hurt all of you..." I swallowed back the tears, done with crying for now, "I feel... helpless."
The room was quiet nearly a full minute, an awkward and tense silence that hung in the air.
Blackstar snorted out a laugh, "I'd like to see him try and take down a big guy like me. Yeah, good luck, asshole."
