Ten Weeks Down The Line

Jacks POV

I ran up behind Steph and locked my fingers around her waist from behind, being able to feel the baby bump aswell. She turned around and kissed me, "good morning" she said as she continued to do the dishes. Today was going to be the 'dating scan', where the doctor was going to tell us approximately when the baby will be born, we also get to see it for the first time! We are also planning on asking the doctor it's gender, so we don't have to refer to 'it' or 'the baby', just so we can start thinking of names. Gosh, all this baby stuff is coming along so fast, and I don't know if I'm ready to be a dad, after all I'm still in my early twenties.

We're finally here and in the waiting room, the hospital is absolutely packed today, lucky if we both get a seat. I got Steph a seat in the corner after someone left and I stood by her. We waited about 15 minutes, because we had a pre booked appointment. We were both shaking, and Stephanie lay down on the bed while the midwife started placing the gel over her, and she held my hand tight because it was apparently really cold. Then the midwife got the sonograph and the image started coming up on the screen. We both started smiling uncontrollably.
"Doctor Lenegan?" I asked the midwife.
"Yes sir?"
"Would it be possible to find out the gender of the baby?"
"Of course, we will just wait for the baby to turn over, so it becomes visual enough to see."
So we both waited there and finally the baby turned over.
"Congratulations! It's going to be a girl!" She told us.
Steph broke out into tears of happiness and every time she cried I always tear up a little bit... Or a lot.
