It's Complicated

Chapter 3

I haven't talked to Hunter in about a week and a half now. He has tried to reach out to me, but I want to leave him waiting just a little longer. Tonight the girls and I found out that the football team is going bowling about 15 minutes away from here. So, the girls and I plan to 'go bowling' too tonight. 

We are just going to go and act like we didn't know they would be there. Then, we are going to make me look good so he sees what he is missing out on. Since I haven't seen or talked to Hunter in a week and a half, it is time for me to leave a new impression on him.

School ends and the girls and I all end up back at Gianna's place until it is time to go. We are leaving around eight so we don't start getting ready until around six or seven. 

By the time seven rolls around I finally decide to get up and change. I put on black leggings with a royal blue sweater. Then, I add an infinity scarf and my brown combat boots. By the time I finish straightening my hair and doing my make up its 8:15. I hear Carly call from downstairs, "Tessa we are all ready and we are still waiting on you!"

I shout back, "Okay, I am coming!" Before I go downstairs to them, I look at myself in my mirror. I take the time to examine all the details on my appearance. Then I look myself in the eyes and whisper, "You are good enough."

After that little moment, I grab my bag and run down to my friends who are still waiting on me. They all give me a look of annoyance and impatience, but I just say, "We all knew I was gonna be late so let's go!"

After we arrive at the bowling alley, I notice that Justin's car in parked here so that must mean him and the rest of the team still came. We walk into the building and my eyes are instantly drawn to a few lanes in where Hunter is. I quickly look away so he doesn't catch me staring. 

The girls and I got our shoes and got a lane what is about 4 lanes down from the boys. This is when the whole plan begins. From this point on, I am going to make it obvious I am here and I am better then what he thought I am. My goal isn't to win him over, it is to make him realize that he misjudged me and he is missing out on me. If I win him over that would just be a plus. 

We all start posting on snapchat of us here and having a good time in hopes that he will take a look eventually. 

I am starting to give up on this plan because we have played about 4 rounds now and it has been two hours, but he still hasn't noticed. We are about to give up and leave when I feel two strong arms around my waist pulling me off the ground. I squeal and attempt to turn my head to see who it was. I fail to see who it is until I am put back onto the ground, then it was obvious to me it was Justin.

I start laughing and jokingly punching his arm while explaining, "You idiot! I thought I was being kidnapped or something! I hate you!" 

He puts his hands up in defense and jokes, "Chill girl, chill! I don't think anyone would want to kidnap your ass!" 

I gasp at his comment and shove him. Then I notice behind him was a few other football guys and Hunter. I give a soft smile in his direction, but he just continues to stare at me with wide puppy dog eyes. I shake my head and ignore it and turn my attention back to Justin. We end up playing one more round against the guys this time. 

It finally ends and the girls beat the guys by so much. Just before I am about to leave some one grips my arm and I whip my head around to see who it is. I can't move or speak, I am caught in the jail of his sky blue eyes. I am still not moving when he says, "Can I borrow you for a second?" I just nod and follow him to a small table in the bowling alley and take a seat. 

I am still just looking at him without saying anything when he starts, "Listen I just want you to know that I am sorry about before, I didn't mean for it to hurt your feelings. Also, I miss talking to you and seeing you so I was hoping things could maybe go back to how they were before?" 

I reply, "Sure." Then I just get up and walk out towards the car where are the girls are waiting. I am smirking at them and they know that I got my way in this plan. He apologized and feels bad, I win. They all start cheering as we get in the car and I explain what he said to me. 

Gianna says while smirking, "You sassy bitch, you learned well my young apprentice." 

"Thank you great master," I start to play along with her, then I continue, "I wish I had a camera to see his face as I just got up and walked out of there" I laugh then lean against the door and stare out the open window into the sky. It is January and Gianna thinks it's normal to have the windows down in winter. My smirk has left my face and a smile appears instead. Although the winter air is cold, but the heat in my cheeks burn through.

After that night, Hunter and I return to texting everyday almost like nothing never happened. At first I was distant, I was unsure if this was smart. He makes me feel some kind of way that I now crave and wanted back. I let him back into my life. Was it right? I don't know. Am I happy? As of now, yes.
