Chapter 17

"What's up with you and Akashi?" Kotaro asked while you were on the bus to your apartment. He had a very warning look on his face that went along with a warning tone. "What do you mean? There's nothing going on." You explained, "hey just......" "He's been staring at you since lunch period. He's been staring at you since ever." Kotaro pouted, "it doesn't seem right."

You gave a apologetic look as you kissed his cheek sweetly to soften him a little bit. "It's nothing, Kotaro-kun. Akashi's been acting....strange, that's all." You whispered in his ear. "Strange, huh?" He replied blankly. You couldn't tell if he was agreeing with you or was about to be against you. If so, you're going to have to wait until you get home. Kotaro, still wouldn't look at you, made his frown a little bit deeper and so did he voice. "I don't know anymore." He grunted.

You reached to your apartment complex with your boyfriend and got off the bus. You walked over to the flight of stairs silently. You couldn't discuss anything outside of the apartment complex since very time you talk, an echo of what you said is made. Which is why you whisper quietly at conversations like these. And then there's those nosy neighbours. You walked up the stairs to your apartment and unlocked the door.

Your phone started to ring as a nonfication for a text. You got the apartment and shut the door and locked it after Kotaro came in. You checked your phone as you were leaning on the counter as you got a text from Akiku. Shorty before you wanted to text her back, she called you. You guessed that this was something very important.

"Hello?" You started. "(Name), I'm so glad that you answered." Akiku said. her voice was a little deeper than usual and more depressing. You heard some sounds in the back ground like people were kept hostage somewhere. There were cries and some voice that you found familiar. "Akiku, what's going on?" You asked, "Where are you?" "Don't worry about it. I just wanted to say my last words with you." Akiku said. Now she sounds like a person that's been hypnotized by someone. 

"DON'T DO IT, AKIKU! PLEASE WE'RE BEGGING YOU!" You heard Lona's voice sounding terrified but was later calmed down like it was a muzzle. "Lona? Akiku, tell me what's happening? Are the rest of the girls there too?" You panicked. You didn't get your questioned answered. Akiku ignored you and continued with what she was going to say. "I really appreciate you and your personality that always cheered me up. But, I can't go through this anymore." Akiku cried, "Ever since Shukun died, I could never live without him. He was my forever."

"Is this what this is all about?" You freaked, "Akiku I know you're stronger than this, please listen..." "I can't. I wish I could but I can't. Shukun was my only love I ever had. I'm pretty sure that you would feel the same about Hayama." Akiku was at her limit, "When Shukun was at the hospital because of a serious disease, I made a promise to him. That if he dies, I die. I can't make it without him." "I understand that, but you can't just call it out now. You made it all the way here. You can't just give up." you tied to change her mind and calmed down for a bit.

"Don't worry, (Name). You'll see me as one of the smallest, but brightest stars in the sky, next to Shukun who might be bigger than I am. I'll be with everyone else. I'll tell Kuroko and Kagami you said, Hi." You could hear Akiku starting her tears of joy now that she might be with her love once again, "as for the other games to advance Winter Cup game with Kirisaki Daichi, I'll watch you play. Shukun and I." 

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOP* She hung up. You tried not to cry over the loss of another friend. in fact, you almost got used to people dying that you're tears were becoming cliches. You tuned to Kotaro, who heard the conversations with his back towards you. "I guess we're coming to her funreal too huh?" Kotaro guessed. "Shukun didn't want a funeral, so I'm guessing she'll do the same." You said. "Can I ask you something?" Kotaro asked.

"You scratched him across the cheek, didn't you?" He mumbled.  Your eyes got even bigger once he said that. You didn't see anything that would go wrong if you told him the truth. "Yes. I had to." You spoke shaking. Why would he ask something like that right now? "Why? You scratched him pretty good." Kotaro smirked.

You didn't want to answer why. There was a certain way you have to put it so he wouldn't go off. If you said, 'he almost had his hands on me,' Kotaro might shout, 'why didn't you call me' and try to blame you. If you said, 'Akashi was being a jerk,' then he would get Akashi tomorrow and Akashi might kill him. And you are not good at calming Kotaro down at "Flamin Hot Cheeto Cheetah" mode.

"You didn't answer yet, (Name)-san. That means that Akashi did something." Kotaro sighed as he lied on the couch. When did he made that assumption? You  nodded your head as you walked over to him and sat on the floor close to him on the couch. "He wanted me to break up with you." You admitted since there was no other way for you yo tell him, "he said that if I didn't your life will be over. But that's not going to happen!" 

"Heh, sure he did. You and your friends always accusing Akashi as the murderer of the crimes." Kotaro growled, "I'm not stupid. I know what's going on." He sat up from the couch and darted angry eyes at you. "What? Kotaro-kun I......." "Don't kun me!" He rudely interrupted you from explaining. "Why do you always keep me here just to make me suffer?!" Kotaro walked quickly yo the door and you walk after him. "Wait, Kotaro-kun! What do you mean?" You asked. He stopped as soon as he unlocked the door and turned to you. 

"Everyone knows how much Akashi is better than me. All I want to know is, what can I do to be better like or than him. I can't cook without burning everything. I can't pass without getting one question wrong. I can't even get a job without people telling me what's wrong with me." Kotaro gripped his teeth and knuckles as tears slowly began to show, "I didn't do any of these things to be more than a outcast. I did it so I would be a better man for you..............But if you want to be with him, to save my life, then got ahead." 

Kotaro walked out the door, leaving you in the lonely apartment. *No. No. Kotaro come back. Don't tell me you're leaving too!* you thought as you ran out the door after him. He can't just leave you like that. You understand how he feels but, he's not getting the whole story. You stopped him in the parking lot where it was getting ready to be dark. "KOTARO-KUN! THERE'S NOT A THING THAT I WOULD CHANGE." Kotaro stopped his tracks and listened to what you were saying. "CAUSE YOU'RE AMAZING. JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!" You sang. That was exactly how you felt like the song, "Just the way you are" by Bruno Mars. That was the song that brought you and Kotaro together.

"I'm sorry that it looks like what you think it is. But let me explain, everyone is being killed and I don't want to be alone without you!" You of the top of your lungs, "If you leave me, then he'll come for me and I don't want that! I want to be with you! Not him!" Kotaro opened his eyes and looked at you surprised. "(Name)-san, where is this coming from?" he asked. "It was what Kagami said before he died. He said to protect you because your next!" You cried, "I don't want you to end up like what they have! I love you Kotaro and there's no way that I would betray you in any way! And right now I can't do a damn thing to keep it together!" Tears started to run down your cheeks and you fell to you knees on the cold hard ground as Kotaro stopped walking away and stared at you with watery eyes.

"There is a Yandere after the one I love and he is already walking away. There's nothing I could do! Don't make me do the unthinkable and......and.......KILL MY......." You were interrupted by two warm arms wrapped around you and a chest that your face was stifled in. "I'm sorry. Please don't kill yourself. Please don't. I'm sorry. Don't say such things, (Name)-san." Kotaro apologized cause of you're speech, he was crying. It felt good to feel his warm embrace just when you thought that he was gone.

."It's okay. I'm the one who should've known." Kotaro whispered, "Three girls came to me after lunch and told me that you were with Akashi. I never should've have accused you of cheating on me. It was heard trying to walk away from you for me." "Kotaro-kun, I love you. Remember that." You told him. "I love you too." Kotaro smiled. He picked you up bridal style back to your apartment where you guys just sat on the couch, cuddling with each other while watching (Anime title).

"Don't worry, Kotaro-kun. We'll stop him. So he won't come between us ever again." You told him.
