Chapter 19

It was time for lunch so you went with everyone else. You had a piece of paper and a pencil with you as you wrote a letter for Mika who was still in the classroom. You wanted to write a note for her so that way you could meet her on the roof. She hasn't spoke to you ever since Akiku's death, but you don't think that she's mad at you. During the games that you've played, she seem to be listening to you be she never respond. It almost scared you a little bit. 

You entered the cafeteria and saw the table where Mika always sits. You settled the note right there at her seat:

Please Mika, meet me on the roof once you get the note, please.

You walked away and ran up the stairs to the roof to wait on her. To be honest, maybe she doesn't want to talk to you? It wouldn't surprise you if she figured it was you and didn't want to talk to you now, but why? Once when you got to the roof, you sat there on the bench, against the railing waiting for your friend to show up. You couldn't help it but to continue your daydream from first period. Yeah, it's lunch time and Kotaro might be worried about you, but you'll just have to tell him when you see him. You relaxed your shoulders and rested on the railing as your eyes closed and went back to the Teiko days.

You were in the middle of gym class as your class was having free time. Some were on the bleachers talking with other and some were playing other sports. Soccer outside, volleyball on one side of the court and the other side was just boys playing basketball. It happens every so often. You were near the door, where another basket ball hoop was, just shooting baskets by yourself. You kept on thinking when was that bet you made with Mioko going to start. You didn't desire to join the team, but you don't know what she might be capable of. She was nicknamed the Black Widow, but you had no idea what that meant.

"Hey, Nanase-san!" Kuroko called you over from the basketball court. "What is it?" You  asked. "We need you to play on our side right now. A dude just busted his mouth by falling on his face, we could use a player right now." The shadow offered. "Sure, who's my team?" You agreed you walked with him to the other side of the gym as Kuroko explains to you who's on your team. "Hey. Kuroko, what are you doing?" "Who's that chick?" Two boys asked as they took one look at you. "She will be playing with us, everyone." Kuroko announced the the guys. "Her? She's a girl. You're serious, Kuroko-kun?" the boys whined. "Yes. I can assured you she's very good." Kuroko said proudly.

You entered the game with the fellas, looking as aggressive as ever. The game started as you were on point and guarded your man. "Heh, I'm not afraid of a girl." The boy you guard smirked. "You don't have to be afraid of me," you smiled as a boy tried to pass the ball to him, but you stole the ball, "you just have to be aware of me." You ran up the the three point line and shot it into the basket. All of the boys looked stunned and knew that you weren't playing around. "Great job, Nanase-san!" One of your teammates cheered you.

"AAAALLLRRRIIGGHHTT IIIDDIIOOTTSS! OFF THE COURT NOW!" A voice roared at you and the boys. You looked over to see Mioko and her posse behind her as she entered the gym. All of the students started to stop what they were doing and mumbled a few words to each other. It seems like Mioko's presence kills everything in the room. The boys paused the game as they trembled to the Queen spider or what they might know her as Queen of Teiko Hell. Two of the boys were not that scared of her. They stood tall and just waited to talk smack to her.

"Listen to me. All of you boys off the court, now!" Mioko commanded. You knew that she must've thought that the bet would start now. You quietly and slowly walked to the door that was near where you were, since the game paused and you were to the point where no one would see you. "No way. You can't scare us!" One of the brave boys stood against her. "Sure we let a girl plays with us, but there is no chance that we let a girl tell us what to do." The other tried to push her away, but a girl stopped him in a heartbeat. Believe it or not, she was strong enough to make him get on his knees.

Mioko laughed at him as she said in his face, "Really? Because there are a lot of things that we girls can do, and you don't have a clue." Mioko searched the gym from where she's standing and was trying to find you. "Now, where's (Name) Nanase?!" She asked the whole class. Everyone just looked so clueless. The boys was searching for you on the court, but you were near the door now. "There she is!" A dude pointed. Everyone looked at you, who was near the threshold of the door before you were exposed. "Damn." You mumbled before you walked towards Mioko.

"Hey! There's my favorite idiot. Now, let's have that bet we made the other day!" Mioko signals her posse to watch from the bleachers as the boys rapidly ran off the court like they're scared. "I really loved the fact that you tried to sneak away. Do you really hate being in the team?!" She asked as she hand the ball to a male for the top-off. "Not like that. I'm just not interested in competition." You calmly answered. "Well, then let's get to this, shall we?" Mioko offer as she met you of the half court for the tip-off.

"Waiting for me, Nanase?" Mika asked. You woke up and found Mika standing in front of you, looking a little terrified. Maybe she is mad at you or scared of you. But you did nothing wrong nor bad. So there's no reason why she should. "Ah, yeah. It's just that, it's been a while since Akiku." You said, "so what's up?" Mika didn't look like she wanted to talk to you, but she forced herself to. At least that's what it looks like. A clear silence has came between the two of you before you could say something.

"Who knew. That murders of people that we know would get killed." You started, "and that would damage our friendship so much." Mika didn't say a thing. She looked at you and she was clearly wide awake but, you didn't think she was paying attention. She looked like she was having a flash back or something. "So, did you here anything about Kise? I haven't since two weeks ago with the murder or Kagami and Kuroko incident." You tried to get her to talk.

She shook her head weakly. You will never get anything out of her like this. She doesn't look that happy to see you, she obviously doesn't want you to know anything new. This was different than the Mika from the beginning. She was fun, enthusiastic and always wanted to solve this mystery. Now it's like she's calling it quits. It's hopeless at this point. You might as well become clueless and scared like the rest of the students at Rakuzan High.

"If you want to go, then go, Mika." You painfully admitted without hesitation. You didn't want to play the game where you say something and then there's a silence. You turned around and looked down at the view from the roof. At first Mika turned around to the door, but had no desire to leave. She hesitates and shook her head to herself. "Nanase." Mika said as she threw the journal on the ground. "It's Rin's notebook, but I haven't gotten into much yet." She finally informs you.

"And, Kise is in the Insane Asylum House, protected by the police, next to the Japanese Jail House." Mika said. You turn around and widened your eyes. Insane Asylum House? That's where all the crazy people with issues or mental problems the cause the human body to act like an animal. Why is Kise there? Does anyone know about this? Of course Mika would know this kind of stuff since both her parents are in the police force.

"I knew he was acting crazy, but I didn't know he was that crazy." You mumbled, "anything about that?" "Police said that he wouldn't say anything about the crime. But, they can tell that he is being controlled." Mika said, "whoever's pulling the strings must be the true murderer." "Hypnotized." You gasped. So, that murder has the power to hypnotize people to do the dirty work. You kinda feel like this is Kira from the anime, "Death Note." Although who knows if that stuff is real.

"Here, take the journal." Mika pointed to the notebook as you picked it up off the ground. You flipped through the pages as Mika walked away. "From now on, we can't talk anywhere about this. Not ever! Only at practice we could talk about the game plan, that's it!" Mika shouted. "Wait, what are you doing?" You asked. "Breaking ties with you. Right now, we are nothing but teammates. Nothing more, nothing less! I don't want to play anymore! If you want to that's fine!" "Wait what about Kita and Lona?!" You shouted back at her. "I DON'T KNOW, BUT WHERE THEY ARE IS WHERE I WIL BE GOING SOON?!" Mika cried.

Mika ran down the stairs, leaving you on the roof. What's with her? Well, now that you have your stuff, you guess that it's all up to you now. I guess that even Mika got scared of the murders. Well now, it's time to get started on what you know already. You put the game with Kirisaki aside for now and wanted to get the case solved. But there's only one little problem:

"It's just me right now. So, where do I even begin? I didn't expect Mika to bale out."
