Chapter 20

It was after basketball practice that you were still on the basketball court near the playground. You were waiting on Kotaro to finish with practice at the gym. You practiced your dribbling, shooting, defense and offense by yourself. All of your teammates went home to practice with their own court. You didn't feel like yourself since Mika broke ties with you and didn't want to be friends wit you. You keep on replaying to whole argument over and over again just to be sure that she was serious. But you never thought that she would do that such thing. Was she mad at you for some reason?

You didn't think that there was something that she would be mad at. You didn't do anything to make her mad. Maybe it was what those three girls from a week and a half ago, about assuming that Akashi and you were dating and using Kotaro. If that did happen, then she wouldn't believe that. Mika knows that you wouldn't d that especially involving Akashi. Then what did make Mika break up your friendship? Who knows? You wanted to forget about it and concentrate on practice. Hopefully, when time passes you will be friends again.

As you were practicing by yourself, you started to think about the Kirisaki Daichi Game. With Akiku, Lona and Kita out, that means that the new players would have to take their place. Which might be a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. Good, because they can play the role of center, power forward and small forward, but the bad news is that Kirisaki Daichi had been watching our games. So if they figure out that Akiku, Lona and Kita are being replaced by new players, then they might target them first. That underhanded play, is what was worrying you the most. You didn't want your teammates getting injured, but you had no idea what Mioko might do. Mioko Hanamiya.

"I won." Mioko bragged as you fell on the ground on your knees. During the whole game, she was giving you bruises that really hurt you. She didn't care. She just wanted to win so that way you could get on the team. That's when true hell begins. "You've done well. Now, you will join the team. And show everyone how good you are." Mioko snickered. She planned this all along! You just knew it. You picked yourself off the ground as you tried to stop her.

"Why? Why do you want me on the team?" You asked. Mioko paused where she was and turned to you. She did not look so pleased with that question, hopefully she doesn't do anything. "Why? Why?" She repeated you, "because, I just want to see you fall in the future. VERY HARD." The whole gym gotten silent after she said those words. Everyone looked at You and Mioko at the dramatic scene.

"By the time I first heard about you, from other students, you were nothing but a hidden talent. But then, Akashi was after you, he said it himself." Mioko mumbled, "but, I don't care if I'm in the Emperor's way. You are nothing but my target, and I will beat Akashi to you." She walked out of the gym, leaving you dumbfounded. There goes that Akashi name again. Who is that? And why is he, stalking me or something?

"I will take advantage of that dazed look, (Name). It's annoying." A voice growled. After you made a three points shot, the ball went through the hoop and rolled over to a pair of legs wearing black shorts. You looked over to a female figure that was standing under a tree near the basketball court. You knew that figure and voice all too well. But, you didn't know that you were about to see her today. Right now, at a time like this.

"It's been a while, Hanamiya-san." You spoke bluntly, "why are you here? Wanting a have a chat before the game?" "Hey. I've been dying to see you again." The girl smirked, "honestly, what's with you and daydreaming?" She picked up the ball and is now walking towards you. She looked pretty tired there and she must've got back from practice too. "I guess your brother was the captain of the boys team and coaches for both boys and girls teams?" You guessed. "Yeah, it's been a pain in the ass. Especially for me." She grunted.

You didn't say anything else. You were caught off guard that she would even show up. "Honestly, the fact that I'm up against you on Monday is really getting to me." Mioko sighed, "usually I wouldn't care about winning even if it is Winter Cup. But if I'm against you, huh, you are the only person that's worth my attention." She dribbled the ball up,and under her feet. "I see." You said shortly. "So, I see that you're all ready to go." She looks at you, "this is a battle I've been waiting on."

"Yeah. There have been strange things happening. I hope it doesn't effect the game." You sighed, "so, what about you?" "Nothing. It's so boring. They have students there who talk big, but come to find out that they're small." Mioko giggled, "so fun watching them cry." She hasn't changed a bit. Even on the court or off the court she does love seeing people hurt. But, you noticed that she has been more told a nightmare in Teiko than now. But you don't know that.

"So, I've heard about the murders about the shadow, it's light and the blonde." Mioko shoot a basket. "Yeah. Kuroko-kun and Kagami died. Kise was taken into a asylum." You mumbled. "No. All of them died. Even Kise." Mioko claimed, "you heard about the asylum part, but not what happened after." What happened after? Did Kise go too crazy and had to be executed? Who knew that Kise would loose his cool besides crying. "What do you mean?" You asked.

"Nevermind. Anyway, I see you're in the same school as Akashi." Mioko said as she was practicing her layups, "are you two a thing yet?" "Of course not! Honestly, I think he's the one responsible for the deaths." You folded your arms in disgust. "Heh, I wouldn't blame you. He might be short but his way of getting things stands tall to some people who witnessed it." Mioko shoot another basket. Does she know something? If so, is she willing to tell you.

"Then what does he want?" You asked. Mioko stopped what she's doing and turns to you. She had those same blood-thirsty eyes like she is pissed about something. "You still don't know?" She grinned, "wow, you're dead. Especially when you have a boyfriend that's turning to be his enemy." "What?" You gasped. Mioko snapped out of it when she blinked her eyes and looked at you. "Oops, I said too much." She puts the ball back down and walks to you, "nevermind what I said."

"Nanase." Akashi called. The two of you turned to the red-head as he came to you. "What is it, Akashi?" You asked. "Practice is over now however, I need to speak with you about Kotaro." Akashi said. Kotaro? What did he do now? Start a fight? "Is he alright?" You asked. "Yes he's fine. However, he has not been very obedient to me and almost tried to fight me." Akashi looked up to you, "you should know that I will not tolerate such rude attitude."

Akashi noticed Mioko standing next to you and switch attention to her. "Mioko, may I have a moment with Nanase." Akashi demanded. "I was leaving anyway." Mioko walked away from the two of you as she waved, "see you on the court." You nodded your head as she left. Akashi came close to you and held you hand like he wanted to kiss you.

"Beat her. And win." He whispered, "after that, I have something to show you." You backed away from him and released yourself from his grasp. You still had your suppositions and didn't want to know what he has to show you. "Don't you dare hurt Kotaro or kill him!" You exclaimed, "once when Kise tells the police exactly what happened, you will be sorry."

"I'm afraid that won't happen, (Name). Ryota is dead." Akashi said. You widened your eyes as you heard the news. "What?" You gasped. "He committed suicide while he was in asylum. He grew a lot more insane about what he witnessed." Akashi grinned, "Not only that, but the police says that....well, I'll let the news tell you." Akashi paused as he saw Kotaro walking towards you.

"Kotaro-kun!" You called as you ran over to him. Your boyfriend didn't look too happy to see Akashi again, but his face lighten up when he saw you. "(Name)-san, are to go home?" He asked. "Yeah, I was just talking with Hanamiya-san and then Akashi." You told him. By the time you turned around, Akashi was gone. It was like he disappeared. "Let's go." Kotaro yawned. You nodded your head as the two of you walked to the bus stop together.
