Chapter 7

Friday finally came... She was so excited. As she woke up, she looked up, God had done so much... Her dream was finally coming true... She hoped things would go well... "Thank you" she said as she smiled. She looked at herself in the mirror "Just look at you, you've grown, you've achieved a feat at least, I'm so proud of you" she said... All she hoped was that her Dad could get a better job so he could take care of them better. She sighed...
She got into the, bathroom and took her shower, Dehinde seemed to be done already to her greatest surprise... As she came down the stairs, her parents were already on the dinning table eating breakfast. "Hey, here comes the Judge!" Her Dad said, he seemed proud, her mum came over to give her a kiss, then she hugged her tightly "Oh, Mummy,you are squishing me!" She said gasping for breath "Oh, sorry omo mi, I was carried away, I'm just so happy for you!" She said with that motherly love in her eyes.... "Congratulations Big Sis" Dehinde said hugging her... "Thank you, thank you" she said "Okay, let me get my camera... " Her Dad said running into the room "Daddy, there is no need na! " she said rolling her eyes "Sorry, I just want to keep this as a memory of you on your first day in "Court" dear" he said winking at her... " Everyone say Omo court!" He said grinning "OMO COURT!" They said, and the picture was taken.

As she got to school, she was welcomed, everyone kept shaking her and commenting... "Congratulations" they all said, she had suddenly become popular... She felt happy within. She didn't see Lade at all, she wondered where she could be... The bell rang and everyone came out for the assembly. Praises and worship were sang also the National anthem and pledge... The Principal mounted the podium... He was full of smiles, this was the first time they had all seen him smile in... Forever... "Good morning students" he said "Good morning sir" they all chorused "As you all know, today is the opening of our very own court!" He said, everyone clapped, some hooted, Amara and her dolls didn't, They just looked on... "Yes, and it is my pleasure to introduce, our very own lawyer, Miss Dunni Adewale!" He said smiling. As she came up the podium, there were shouts and claps from everyone... She could see Jimi in the crowd, he was clapping too and smiling, he seemed proud, she felt warm. She waved like a Queen and went down the podium. "Please, Join me as we move to the classroom down the hallway for the grand opening of the law chambers" he said as the prefects directed the students. As they got there, there was murmuring in the crowd, they were all very eager to see the chambers... She was too... Jimi was called up, as the Head boy to cut the ribbon, people clapped, girls kept straining their heads so he could look at them or notice them... He was handed the scissors "We open this Teenagers Court in the name of the Father, Son and Holy spirit" he said as he cut the ribbon, the door was opened, everyone was surprised, the classroom had been transformed!... Pews, the witness box, the Judges seat and all the things found in the court was in there, there were also books... Everyone clapped, she stood there speechless "The decorations and all were done by me, Obolo helped too, you are welcome " Lade said hugging her from the back "Awwn... Thank you!" She said. Tears were in her eyes, she felt happy and loved, seeing everyone clapping for her and seeing her new office, she couldn't ask for more, she was just thankful for all..
Jimi shook her hand,he smiled "Welcome to your new office" he said smirking ,he looked handsome as always "Thank you!" She said happily, she stepped in and sat in the chair, it was soft and comfortable, she picked up the gavel and gavelled... She felt good... Pictures were taken, the principal granted Obolo and his crew permission to display, celebrations were much, she felt happy..."Attention all" she said as she came to the microphone, everyone turned To her, "I'll like to announce my Court clerk" she said looking at the Principal who gave her a go-ahead "Please, can Miss Ololade Coker come up the podium?" She said ,everyone was in shock, Amara, laughed, she could see no sense in the system, how could a Science inclined student be a Court clerk?.... She chuckled. Ololade came up the, podium, she was stunned, she hadn't expected it... Everyone clapped... Soon, the crowd dispersed...

"Dunni!" Lade called out "Yes Lade?" Dunni answered turning sharply "Yeah, thanks for the post, but I can't accept it" she said truthfully "Why?" Dunni asked "Why?,look, I'm not Art inclined, I know nothing of "Law!" I can't do this, I don't want to be starring at the kids who visit us" she said with pleading "I didn't choose you because of your class, I chose you because you are my best friend and you stood by me through all this, I'm really grateful, that was all I could do to make you a part of thus, besides it's only on Fridays during sports" she said trying her best to make Lade see... "If that's why, I accept" she said smiling "Yeah, let's do this!" She said feeling happy... They hugged each other and left... The principal sent information that he needed to see her, she got to his office and she was asked to bring the list of those she would love to work with her, "You the Judge now, whatever you say goes, also, anyone who has a case should bring a lawyer to defend them, the students who have passion for Law can be the lawyers, that way, we are training them up. And remember, you must read your books well, to be able to pass, your grades must be high, If we see it's affecting your studies, we are calling it off" Old Major said "Okay sir" she said as she took her leave for class, "Work will soon begin" she said to herself...
Sport period finally came, it was an Hour, she smiled sweetly as she took her leave for her chambers. As she got there, she sat down on her chair, her name tag was on the table, she saw her gown and wig, she was most impressed. The school had done so much for her, she was indeed happy... She smiled to herself, Ololade came in she was looking tired... "What's wrong?" She asked "Well, Biology practicals" she said in frustration as she sat down, "So, what now?" Lade asked looking around the room. Dunni stood up to the hanger to try on her gown and wig, it fit perfectly "Now, you look stunning girl!" Lade commented "yep it is" she said "you are to be coming with your casual corporate wears on Fridays, as the clerk" Dunni stated "Yes ma!" Lade said as they both laughed at each other... "I just wonder when I'll start having cases" Dunni said "You will soon, don't worry, these kids, they'll tire you out" Lade said, she liked referring to teens as "Kids"..."I've drafted the list of those who will be part of the court session, it's with the principal" Dunni said "okay" replied Lade... "He will call them to his office and tell them their posts and duties... The prefects will help too" she further stated... Just then, the students chosen came into the chamber with the Principal, Prefects, Councillor and Government teacher..."Well, these are your chosen ones, the Government teacher has briefed them about their duties, they are fit and ready for work, also the dress code has been told to them... Good day " The Principal ended...She could see Obolo smiling at her, "Thanks" he said... There was no case that day since it was just the opening of the court, Dunni hoped there would be, she just kept her hopes up and fear down... She knew this was the beginning of an adventure, she could feel it...
