"I am sorry for your mum. Are you okay?" Jackson said. "Yes. Women can handle the worst kind of pain. I am fine." I said. "We have to talk. I am staying in the city for a while." He said. "We have nothing to talk about. Thanks for coming to the funeral, you can go home." I said turning and leaving him but he grabbed my arm. "Jackson let go of me!" I said. Marcus saw me and he came. "Leave her alone." He said staring at Jackson and Jackson let me go. "What are you doing here?" Marcus asked. "Condoling my girlfriend." Jackson said which made Marcus angry. Marcus prepared his fist and was getting closer to Jackson when I stopped him. "Not here Marcus,not right now." I said facing Marcus. Jackson smirked and left. "I am still meeting you!" He yelled. "What does that bitch want?" Marcus said angrily. "I don't know. Can you please calm down?" I said.  After the funeral, We all got home and Marcus and I were in my room. "Baby, I got you food." Marcus said sitting down. "I am not really hun.." I started but Marcus put the burger in my mouth before I finish the sentence. "The old Mia used to eat water and land. I am bringing that girl back." He said. "This way you are only making me a fat Mia." I said smirking. "So what. I will still like you." Marcus said and we both smiled. "What was Jackson telling you earlier?" He asked. "He wants to meet me. He says we have to 'talk'." I said. "TALK? You have nothing to talk about! You won't meet him of course,will you?" Marcus said. "Oh no. We have nothing to say." I said. We were silent for a while. "So, school starts tomorrow." I said. "Yeah that shit. I don't want to go tomorrow, I prefer sleeping here by your side." Marcus said smiling. "How are you gonna pass your subjects without going to school." I asked. "I have you. That's all I want in life." He said and I smiled. "What about you? I mean, are you coming to school." He asked. "Yes. But I don't know if I am ready yet." I said looking down. Marcus touched my cheek and said, "whenever you are ready. I will be by your side. Always." I smiled.
*Next Morning*
When Marcus woke up, he made some noise that woke me up too. He said he's going to his house to get his stuff and drive to school. He kissed me goodbye then I went downstairs to have breakfast with dad and Tara. Emily went to university already. I don't want to stay at home. I think about going to school. "I.. Umm. I want to go to school." I said. "Sweetie, are you sure?" Dad asked. "Yes. This state shouldn't last for long." I said. "As you like." Dad said. "I can drive you to school! I want to see the school you go to." Tara said. "Don't get so excited." I smirked. I went upstairs changed to Marcus's black sweater (the one with big white letters) and jeans. Got my backpack and left.
*Skip drive*
I caught Tara staring at my school. "I told you don't get so excited." I said laughing. "I hate schools. However, good luck!" She said. I smiled at her then went out of the car. Here I am. At school for the second term. Last term in a school. A lot happened in the vacation. This is gonna be hard. I took a deep breath and opened the door. I went inside with eyes on me and whispers. "I am sorry for what happened to your mum." One of my classmates said. "Thank you." I said with a fake smile. Then I found Hailey and Lucas. "Hey Mia!" Lucas said. "Mia? What are you doing here?" Hailey asked. "Learning?" I said. "I know. I mean weren't you supposed to be at home? Are you ready for this?" Hailey asked. "Yes, I am good. Staying at home won't bring mum back." I said then Hailey hugged me. "Don't worry we are here for you. We always will." Lucas said smiling. "Mia?" Marcus said coming towards us. "Why are you here?" He asked. "Is this how you say good morning?" I asked raising my eyebrows. "Baby, I didn't mean to." He said kissing my forehead. "I am good don't worry. However, you are with me nothing is gonna happen." I said smiling and he smiled back. "Mia? Omg long time no seen!" Amanda yelled hugging me. "Hey, I missed you too!" I said. "I heard about your mother. So sorry." She said. "Thank you." I replied with warm smile. I miss mum so much. I never thought I will miss her this much when she's gone. Never even thought she will be gone one day, I never imagined my life without her. Why do they leave without telling us? They leave out of a sudden. I felt a tear come down my cheek. Marcus hugged me tight. Then the bell rang.
*Skip school*
Marcus and I were at home. The day went okay. So many sorries for my mum but I handled it. This had to happen anyway. We took a nap then woke up later. Marcus and I were sleeping on my bed and scrolling through our phones. "Mia, would you like to go out?" Marcus asked. "No, I am feeling lazy actually." I said. "Okay as you like." Marcus said and I smiled. I got a text from an unknown number.
-The Number: Meet me at Starbucks near your house by 8.
-Me: Jackson I assume?
-The Number: Yes. It's important.
I panicked. What does Jackson want now? Every time Jackson meets me, troubles happen. I shouldn't have dated him in the first place! But unfortunately I have to meet him sooner or later. And it better happens without Marcus knowing it. He won't let me go. I put down my phone and went to the bathroom and washed my face. "You can do this. It will be okay." I said to myself in the mirror. I went out of the bathroom and Marcus was looking at me. "Are you okay?" He asked. "Yes. Umm I am actually meeting Hailey. What are you doing?" I asked. "Is she okay?" He asked. "Yeah yeah. She wants to gossip for a while. I know you wanted to go out but I promise you We will go out tomorrow,okay?" I said. "Umm. Okay. I will go home grab some stuff and come here and do homework. Are you coming late?" He asked. "No." I said and he nodded. I feel bad for lying to him. But what should I do? If I told him he won't let me go meet Jackson. Let's hope it ends fast. I changed to multi pattern top with jeans and leather jacket. I took my car and left. When I arrived Jackson was already there. He was sitting alone watching the movements of every person sitting there. Trying to figure out their conversation. It's something both of us used to do, the one who guesses the conversations correctly is the winner and the other pays for the food or drinks. I smirked then opened the door and walked towards him he didn't notice me. I sat opposite of him. "You came! I am surprised." Jackson said. "Cut it short and say what you have, so you can leave me alone." I said. "You know what it is. Come back to me." He said. "Again? Is this the important thing you have! I expected that. Listen Jackson, We can't be together anymore. And I told you I have a boyfriend." I said. "Marcus? Do you really like that kid?!" He asked. "Why did I date him then?" I asked. "You tell me. To piss me off maybe?" He said. "Don't worry, I don't play kids games anymore. I love Marcus and He loves me deeply. And he doesn't play around with other girls while dating me." I said. "Okay. I know I made a huge mistake by cheating on you with Monica. How many times you want me to tell you I am sorry?" He said. "None. What you did hurt me and turned my life upside down." I said. "I know that I broke you and I w.." He started. "Broke me? You may have hurt me. Made me cry. Made me sad. But broke? No human being was meant to break my heart. Not a boy like you." I said. "But I swear I changed. I left Monica and I will do anything for you. For us to come back together." He said putting his hand over mine. "You lost a diamond while playing with a worthless stone,Jackson. Get it over with." I said taking my hands."Please, Leave Marcus and come back to me." He said. "Even if I did. I changed. We won't work it out." I said. "Don't say that. Just come back to me,please." Jackson said in cracked voice. Still not changing my mind. "People change after being hurt Jackson and.." I said. "But I left Monica! For you! For us to be together." He said. "No Jackson. We are over." I said taking my bag to leave. "Can we at least be friends?" He said. "I don't know Jacks.." I said. "Please?" He begged. "Fine. But you will go back to NYC. And please don't call or text. If I saw you I will only say hi. Nothing more." I said then he cheered up. I got up to leave. "Can I at least get a hug? A friendly one." He said. Before I can reply he hugged me. When I broke the hug I said, "by.." I said but he closed my mouth by kissing it. I quickly pulled away and slapped his face. "You will never change! Even a friendship won't work between us two! Don't ever get close to me!" I shouted and headed for the door. I suddenly stopped. My heart sank.Omg. "M..M..Marcus?" I said.
