"Wakey, wakey sleepyhead," Carter chimes in an extremely girlish voice.

I groan, and pull the covers over my head. Today is the day I've been dreading.

The first day of my senior year of high school. At a new school.

"Car-ter," I groan. "Can't I just stay here? I really don't need an education. Please?"

"Sorry, judge's orders," he shrugs. Oh right, the judge who presided over my case decided it was imperative that I 'better myself through education.' Cue gagging noises.

I slowly and reluctantly crawl out of bed. I have my outfit for today already laid out- a pair of distressed denim jeans, and a red, short sleeved top with a black belt.

"I need to change," I laugh, eyeing Carter. His face turns a light shade of red, and he leaves the room.

I pull on my clothes, and slip on a pair of black boots that go just above my ankle.

After I've changed, I put my hair into a messy fishtail braid, and curl the tendrils.

Mrs. Stone bought me the cutest canvas backpack, with blue floral designs on it, which I grab before heading downstairs.

Carter's waiting for me with a breakfast bar.

"We let you sleep in a little, but you don't have time to eat breakfast," he explains.

I take the food from him, and we leave through the front door.

"Have a good day!" Mr. Stone calls.

"Thanks," I reply.

Before getting into the truck, I head over to the barn, towards Ezhno's stall. He whinnies when he sees me, and I let out I light laugh.

"Hey boy. I've got to go now, but I promise I'll be back in time for your vet appointment," I whisper, rubbing his head.

Today the vet is coming out to see if he's ready for his cast to come off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

"We're gonna be late," Carter calls. I quickly kiss Ezhno's head before walking off after Carter.

My leg barely bothers me anymore. I have a slight limp, but it's very, very subtle and not many people notice it. Standing for long periods of time hurts, and I have a few scars that haven't quite healed yet, but overall, I'm doing good.

I hop up into the truck, and close the door. Carter turns the key in the ignition, and in just moments we are in motion.

He glances at my face, and sighs. "It's not all bad Taylor- Joy will be there. She goes to the same school, and I moved a few of your classes around so you guys have almost every class together. You'll be fine."

"You moved my classes around," I question, raising an eyebrow.

"I... uh... I thought that... uh... you would want your classes with Joy?" he stutters, thinking that I'm upset

"I'm just messing with you," I chuckle.

The car ride is over all too soon, as we pull into the parking lot.

"You have your cell," he asks. I nod at him.

I wish he hadn't graduated last year, so that he could go with me.

He hands me my schedule, and gets out of the car, walking around to the passenger side. He opens my door, and helps me out.

"Thanks," I mutter, slinging my backpack over my shoulder.

He slinks his arms around my waist, and pulls me closer. I laugh, before standing to my tiptoes, and lightly kissing him.

"You'll pick me up this afternoon?" I ask.

"Of course."

We kiss again, before a familiar voice interrupts.

"Oh my gosh you guys, get a room," Joy laughs. I roll my eyes at her, and reluctantly pull away from Carter.

"Bye, see you this afternoon," he assures, before getting back into his car, and driving away.

I look over my shoulder, and notice a pretty brunette glaring at me.

"Who's that?" I ask. Joy follows my gaze, and sighs.

"That's Amelia, but everyone just calls her Amy. She's this schools version of Chloe... and she's," Joy informs me, before trailing off, obviously not wanting to finish her sentence.

"She's what?" I question, uneasily.

"She's Carter's ex," she sighs.

"What!"

"They only dated for like a month, and he broke up with her because she was superficial and mean. But she never really got over him, although she won't admit it. But don't worry, she is no competition to you," Joy nervously assures me.

I swear, if we were in a cartoon, steam would be blowing out my ears.

"Whatever," I mutter.

I guess this is the perfect start to my new school year.

Note sarcasm.

Hope you liked the first chapter of my newest book!

I have some bad news....

For Thanksgiving, I'm going to my aunts house out in the country. I'm so excited because it's snowing and I haven't seen snow in over a year!!! plus I love my aunt she's awesome.

But... I most likely won't have any internet access for a week- I'm leaving tomorrow. If I get any internet, I'll try to update, but if I don't update for a week, it's not because I don't feel like it, it's because I can't.

Thanks for understanding!

And thanks for reading my lovelies!!!
