It can't be Carter. It just can't.
"Is he-" I whisper, though I can't bring myself to say the word 'dead.'
"No. He's in an ambulance on his way to the hospital."
"How bad is it?" I question.
"I'm not going to lie- it's bad. Really bad actually. The bullet is lodged in his chest and we think it's dangerously close to his heart. It's pretty touch and go right now," he answers.
"I need to see him- if he's going to die, I have to see him," I urgently demand, trying to fight back the tears that I can't stop from falling.
"We've tracked your call and we're coming to get you right now. Just stay where you are," he orders.
"Okay- bye," I whisper, handing the phone back to the woman who lent it to me and mumbling a thank you.
I exit the store, tears streaming down my face.
"What happened?" Ariel asks.
"The police got there and shot Clint and Jones. But- but," I explain, before bursting into tears.
"What?" she questions, worry seeping through her voice.
"They shot Carter," I sob, sinking to the floor.
Ezhno nuzzles me, and I wrap my arms around his massive head. He just stays still, offering me wordless comfort.

"Sorry- sorry- SORRY!" I mumble to innocent passersby as I run past them, trying desperately to make it to the OR waiting room.
"Taylor, wait up," Ariel calls, getting lost in the sea of people. I slow my gait a tad, but not by much.
I have a fervent need to see Carter- I know he's in surgery and whatnot, but I don't care. I need to be close to him. And I'm sure his parents are suffering.
I burst through the double doors that lead to the waiting room causing everyone to jump up.
The first people I notice are Mr and Mrs Stone- and then I see Sky, Joy, Andrea, Ethan, Erica and Jake. And by the looks on their faces, they did not know I am still alive.

I know how short this chapter is. I'm sorry. I figured i could either make you wait another day for a longer chapter or update what I have now. I'll update ASAP I'm just really stressed now. T hat's why I haven't been updating as much as usual. School is killing me. But soon I'll be back on track.
This book is almost over. It kills me to say goodbye to these characters.
