Jason’s P.O.V.

I was idly flipping through the channels when my best friend walked into the room with a worried look on his face.

“Are you okay, man?” said best friend asked.

“Overall, yes nothing serious. I have a slight concussion, a fractured wrist, and I rolled my ankle. But besides that I’m just scraped and bruised a lot. So don’t worry,” I informed him reassuringly, “The doctors said there shouldn’t be any permanent damage.”

He didn’t look convinced especially when he looked at all the machines I was hooked up to. One for my heartbeat, one had an IV drip in my left arm, another had a painkiller going into my right, and all sorts of various other things going on that I didn’t even understand. Yeah, thinking on it now, I’m not so sure I would’ve trusted me either.

“Ok,” he said eventually, sitting down in the seat to my left and stealing the remote out of my hands.

“Hey, give it baaaaaaack, give it baaaaaaaaack,” I wined while unsuccessfully trying to reach for the remote.

“Hahahah dude you sound like a whiny little girl dude!!!! Haha,” the idiot has the nerve to say to me.

“Fine Gabe, be that way,” I said in a whiney type of voice.

Hmmm must be the drugs making me act this way, right before I heard a knock at the door. Gabe got up to answer it while I stole the remote back and attempted to hide it under the pillow, which isn’t as easy as it sounds with all of this hospital crap hooked up to me. As I finally was giving up I looked up and saw, more like heard the voice of Gabe and a girl.

“Hey it’s you!” the girl exclaims.

I imagine right now Gabe’s giving her some weird look, because surprisingly enough he’s a man of few words except for around his close friends.

With all of my thinking it seems I’ve missed part of the conversation.

“I’m his new neighbor. The house that’s been for sale across the street forever? Well my parents bought it and I was instructed to be nice and help out are new neighbors. So I decided to buy him a gift and come visit him. See the teddy bear was what I decided on. A little girly I know, but who doesn’t love a teddy bear…..  Ha Ha Ha….” She rambled nervously and quickly.

Hmmm I remember that house. It’s literally across the street from my house. Like exactly across, not staggered like the other houses on my street. I’ve always found it a bit weird though. Ah oh well she doesn’t seem so bad.

It seems like I missed part of the conversation again because all of a sudden there she was standing in the room with me.  When she first looked at me she had a weird look in her eyes. It was almost a mixture of pity and… guilt? Ah maybe I’m just over thinking things again.

But what really caught my attention was her. Long blonde hair, body that was average sized, not too skinny, not to thick, and her eyes , and even though it sounds weird, I can’t remember the color of them, all I remember was the fact that they seemed ancient, as if they g=had seen the world and everything it had to offer, and had found it lacking. But behind that there seemed to be a love, a joy for just the simple fact of living. And in that moment, I grew to hate her.
