First Chpater of the new year so- HAPPY NEW YEAR :)

Rosie’s P.O.V.

It had taken me a couple of days but I had finally persuaded Trey that I was okay and that I would be able to make it through the day if I went to school. I wanted normality and I craved the simple routine I used to have. I’m quickly regretting this decision.

All anyone talks about is the sudden disappearance of Ty and his friends and I get countless questions on the no-show that is Mary. Someone’s even asked me if she has run away with them. The last thing people seem to know is that they were going on a date and now neither of them are showing up to school… they have added two and two together and gotten five no matter how logical it would seem to them.

I’m torn when it comes to Ty; on one hand I am hoping that he is far, far away from here, from my family and from me but on the other hand I want him close so he can be found and so he has to answer for his actions. Ultimately I don’t relish the thought of him sneaking around my own territory though, so for that reason I want him gone... see what I mean about conflicted?

Mary is still not talking to me, Trey has tried to get her out of her room and so have various other people but no one has succeeded, only cook has seen her, which is a good sign since we know she’s eating and he says she looks alright but she doesn’t talk to him other than to ask for what she wants and to say thank you when he delivers it.

“What you thinking about?” Startled I turn to find that Oli has taken the seat next to me, his dreamy chocolate eyes searching the depths of my own eyes looking for a clue. He is just in time as our History teacher walks in and commands the class’s attention.

“Mary.” I sigh. “This is the longest we have gone without talking.”

“Four days?” He whispers.

“Yeah, you forget that we practically grew up together and even when we were apart we were texting. She’s my best friend and I miss her so much.” The tears build in my eyes but I hold them back, I refuse to cry in public.

“Then go talk to her.” He states shrugging his shoulder. “I remember clearly how I felt when you weren’t talking to me, as much as I deserved it, it killed me inside.” I give him a sceptical look.

“Dramatic much?”

“I’m being serious, it was physically painful, I hated seeing you around and not being able to talk to you.” He stops as we get a glare from teacher “I’m just trying to show you that I know how you feel and if I were you I’d go talk to her.”

“But she won’t talk to anyone it’s not just me.”

“She doesn’t have to talk she just has to listen and she will, even from the other side of the door. If you’re talking she will listen because she loves you too and if it’s hurting you, you can just bet that it is hurting her.” Shock crosses my face and all of a sudden Oli isn’t just my silly friend with a serial dating issue, he is mature, tough but also capable of being hurt and I can see that in his eyes.

“Oli… you’re amazing.” I respond sincerely. Putting my books back in my bag I sling it over my shoulder.

“Can’t it wait till after class?” He asks with an amused glint in eyes.

“Probably but I have permission from Trey to leave when I want if I don’t feel well… so I might as well do it now, I’m not learning anything anyway.” I get to my feet and the teacher looks at me startled.

“Where do you think you’re going Rosie Matthews?” She says in a stern voice.

“Home Miss, I’m not feeling too good.”
