It's All In Perspective Part Three

Shuu and Ai

Ai was sitting on a windowsill when she heard the limo pull up. She ran over to Shuu's bed.

"Shuu," she whispered, "their back..."

Shuu got out of bed and went to the door. He saw Subaru carrying Cata. Subaru seemed distant and didn't react to Shuu being there. Cata looked half dead, but she was breathing fine.

"What's going on?" Ai asked. Shuu made sure his body was blocking the gap in the door.

"They're back," Shuu told her, "but Cata is really tired. Maybe we can talk to them tomorrow night."

Ai nodded but she still looked worried. She sat back down on the windowsill and drew her knees up to her chest. Suddenly, Shuu's hand was on her back.

Shuu kissed her on the top of her head, "Come on, little bird. Come sing for me."

Shuu picked Ai up and set her down in his lap on the bed. Ai curled up into his chest and started singing softly.

Ai sang about a little silver owl's journey home. When she finished, she clung to Shuu's shirt and fell asleep.

Shuu stroked Ai's hair as she fell asleep. He pulled a blanket up over her and slipped out from underneath her. He watched her shoulders move as she breathed. She seemed even more innocent and sweet when she was sleeping.

Shuu smiled and left her there to go talk with the other boys. He would hopefully be back long before Ai woke up.

Reiji and Michiko

Michiko had passed out long ago, sprawled out on Reiji's bed. Reiji sat beside her reading a large book.

Reiji lifted his head when he heard footsteps and whispering just down the hall. Subaru and Cata must have come back. At least, he hoped it was both if them.

Reiji would never admit it, but all the girls had grown on him to some degree. Determined Cata, feisty Cece, loyal Ai, shy Haru, and most of all, stubborn Michiko.

It took a lot to get past Michiko's defenses, and Reiji still wasn't sure how he did it, but he knew the girl loved him now. He found himself loving her back in spite of himself.

Reiji closed his book and set it aside. He turned around to Michiko. She was still in her clothes from earlier, a dark blue tank top and black shirt shorts.

Carefully, as not to wake her up, Reiji undressed her. He grabbed her galaxy pajama pants and an oversized white crop top that hung loosely from her frame, and put those on her. Michiko groaned and stretched. Reiji pulled the covers over her.

There was a light knock at the door. Reiji opened the door and saw Shuu. Shuu jerked his head towards the stairs without saying anything. Reiji nodded.

He quietly shut the door and went downstairs.

Laito and Cece

Cece insisted on waiting outside after Cata left. Laito went back inside after an hour.

Cece sat on the side of the driveway under a scrawny tree. She was biting at her fingernails and tapping one foot. Disturbing thoughts kept running through her head.

Cece couldn't stop thinking something bad was going to happen to Cata. Images of blood flashed over her mind's eye. Cece grabbed the sides of her head and curled into the fetal position.

Laito found her there, asleep. He managed to waker her up just as Subaru and Madam Raven were driving away.

"What's going on?" Cece rubbed the sleep out if her eyes, "Is Cata OK?"

"She's fine," Laito helped Cece up, "she contacted us and said she did it, but she said she was trapped."

"Trapped?" That woke Cece up.

"I'm not sure, Subaru will be back with her soon." Laito held Cece up by her shoulders.

About two hours later, the limo drives back into the driveway. Subaru stepped out of the limo. He was shirtless and holding his shirt in a large bundle in his arms.

Cece gasped when she realized the bundle was a passed out and damaged Cata. She tried to run over to them but Laito held her back.

"Is she OK?" Cece asked.

"She's fine for now," Subaru said, "just go to sleep you two."

Laito took Cece back to her room. He waited until she was asleep to go outside to the hall. He put one foot up on the wall, leaned against it, and closed his eyes and crossed his arms.

He opened his eyes when he heard Shuu knock on Reiji's door. Laito followed Reiji down to the game room.

Kanato and Haru

Haru sat cross legged on the bed, holding Teddy. Kanato paced the room.

"Haru, I need you to go to sleep."

"But I'm not tired..." Haru rubbed her eyes and pouted.

Kanato gave her a half smile, "You may not be, but Teddy is, and you know how he gets."

Haru looked down at Teddy. The stuffed bear was slumped over on her lap. She sighed and took Teddy into her bedroom.

"Are you really tired?" Haru asked Teddy. His head flopped forward.

"Fine," Haru set Teddy down on her light pink bed and changed into her bear night gown.

Kanato opened his door to see Shuu, Reiji and Laito in the hall. Reiji and Laito were walking towards the stairs.

"Get Subaru and bring him down to the game room," Shuu told Kanato.

"OK," Kanato nodded.

Subaru left his room a few minutes later.

"Come on," Kanato waved him over, "we have to go downstairs."

Subaru

Subaru walked with Kanato. In the game room, all the other brothers were sitting around waiting for them.

"What's going on, guys?" Subaru asked.

"We just want you to tell us what happened," Ayato said from the pool table. Kanato walked over and stood across from him.

Subaru shook his head, "I don't know much. Madam Raven and I killed as many of this bastards as we could, and by the time I got to Master Frost's room, he was long dead. He had his fangs deep inside her."

Subaru punched the nearest wall, "Cata told me he said something too, right before she killed him."

Reiji stood up from his seat next to Shuu on the couch, "And what did he say."

"Something about her loving him after all... There's no way he meant Cata!"

"He was probably talking about Madam Raven," Laito put in from the wall next to the dart board, "he must have known she was behind it."

"That makes the most sense," Kanato agreed. Shuu nodded.

Subaru looked relieved. He took his fist out of the broken wall.

"But what are we going to do about these girls?" Reiji asked, "there may be more to them we don't know. More problems."

"Then we help them," Kanato snapped back, "I would do anything for my Haru!"

"I would never give up Ai, no matter how much trouble she caused!' Shuu insisted.

Laito laughed and smirked, "Poor Little Bitch would probably be lost without me."

"Cata needs me more than ever right now," Subaru crossed his arms over his still bare chest.

Reiji rubbed the back of his neck and smiled, "I suppose I have grown quite attached to Michiko as well."

"Then it's settled!" Ayato grinned, "you guys get your girls and I get to keep Pancake!"

The brothers all nodded in agreement and went their separate ways for the night. Back to their awaiting girls.
