Haru

Haru squirmed under the scrutinizing glare of Kanato. She wore the school uniform he had presented her with that evening.

"Cute," Kanato finally judged. Haru relaxed a little, "but you could do better."

Haru tensed again as he reached out and picked up a tangled lock of golden hair, "Why don't you brush this out and put it up in a ponytail or something."

"Because then people could see me," she realized how stupid that sounded as she said it.

Kanato cocked his head in confusion, "But I can see you just fine right now."

Haru bit her lip. She had no real reason to leave her hair down and uncombed. She always just felt safer when she could hide behind her hair. Like a wall of tangled briars that kept away any and all prying eyes. Just another street rat scurrying amongst the alleys in search of food.

"Let me comb your hair for you," Kanato offered, "We still have time before we go to school."

He set Teddy on the dark purple bed next to him and made Haru kneel down with his back to him. She expected it to hurt since she had never combed her hair before, but Kanato was careful. He managed to not pull on each snarl and make the process mostly painless.

After her hair was fully combed out, it fell around her shoulders in soft waves. She felt how smooth and soft it was.

"There, much better," Kanato smiled. He tied her hair up into a ponytail.

Haru stood up and looked in the nearby vanity mirror. It was the first time she had seen her entire face. For as long as she could remember, her hair had covered the right side.

"You have very unique eyes," Kanato observed, picking up Teddy.

He was right, Haru's left eye was green just like she had always known, but the other eye was dark brown, almost black.

"Have you never seen your right eye before?" Haru shook her head slightly. She had always just assumed both her eyes were green.

"Well, we should probably be going now," Kanato took her hand in his and she blushed at the touch.

Ai

A slight pressure around her waist woke Ai up. She hasn't realized it, but she had fallen asleep on the ride to the school. She wasn't uses to being up so late, she preferred mornings to nights.

Shuu had his arms wrapped protectively around Ai's waist and was squeezing gently. Her older sister, Miki, was shooting daggers at Shuu with her eyes. Ai could tell it was making Shuu mad, which was why his grip on her had been steadily increasing.

"Shuu..." She mumbled, "please don't hold me so tightly."

Shuu looked down at her and loosened his hold.

"Miki," Ai addressed her older sister, "stop being so rude."

Miki looked away and Ai snuggled into Shuu's chest. He had been very gentle since the night they first met, even though she had been in nothing but he'd underwear. Ai was always careful to be as quiet as possible and let Shuu feed and sleep whenever he pleased. She kind of liked the silences. They meant no demands or questions she couldn't answer. No yelling at her saying she messed up all the time.

"Laito! Stop that," she heard Reiji scold. She cracked one eye open to see Laito's fangs an inch away from the brown haired girl's neck. What was her name? Celeste? No, Cecelea, that was it, Cece.

"Tsk tsk," Laito closed his eyes and slowly shook his head, "such a party pooper. And besides, I'm thirsty."

Ai groaned and put her hands over her ears.
