WAKING UP TO my alarm this morning was way more brutal than it usually is. My head was pounding, my lips felt like the Sahara Desert, and I swear to god my body felt like I had been hit by a large semi-truck. I turned over onto my back, a loud groan escaping my lips as I stretched my arms out, when suddenly, I felt a warm body nuzzle next to me.
I turned my head to the right so quickly I almost forgot I had a raging hangover and in an instant felt nauseous and dizzy. The person lying next to me was none other than Austin Gray, star quarterback of the football team. My heart began to race, and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and braced myself as I peeked under the covers to see if I had any clothing on or not.
Two seconds passed and I still couldn't muster up the courage to open my eyes to see what was underneath the covers. Were we both butt naked? Did he have his boxers on and I was in my bra and panties? What exactly happened last night? So many questions were running through my mind I couldn't keep up with anything, making my head feel like it was being repeatedly run over with by a car.
"Okay, on the count of three open your eyes Maddie." I whispered under my breath as I held tightly onto the bed sheets.
I finally opened my eyes, cursing profanities in my head when I saw that I was in my underwear and was wearing the shirt that Austin was wearing last night at the party. Austin was in his boxers, nothing else.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." I muttered, my mind reeling and my heart felt like it had fallen into my stomach.
What the hell happened last night? The last thing I remember was playing beer pong with my best friend Josie and our opponents were Austin and his best friend Brandon. I knew nothing good would come out of attending Austin's huge eighteenth birthday bash. I didn't even want to come in the first place but Josie basically dragged me out of my pajama's, into a dress that had a crisscross cutout on the back which hugged my curves in all the right places, and to "the party of the year," – as everyone called it.
I wanted to puke, I wanted to scream and I wanted to murder Josie for bringing me to this goddamn party. Austin and I didn't even like each other so it wasn't a surprise when I wasn't invited, but considering Josie is dating his best friend, we were a package deal. The look on his face when he saw me walk in with Josie was a look of pure disdain. How I ended up in his bed was beyond me.
I quickly and quietly rolled out of bed – I'm sure this was his bed; I couldn't even tell at this point – making sure I didn't wake up Austin. The last thing I needed this morning was him waking up and seeing the situation we were currently in. I would never hear the end of it.
Just as my feet hit the cold, hardwood floor, I tripped over an empty bottle of Jack Daniel's. I hit the floor with a loud thud, not only hitting my funny bone against Austin's nightstand but also waking him up abruptly. He jumped up, instantly groaning as he stuffed his face into his pillow. Thankfully I wasn't the only one with a raging hangover.
"What the fuck?" he rolled over onto his side, his brown eyes landing right onto my sea-green ones.
I leaned my head back, hitting it against his nightstand, "Fuck." I quipped, rubbing my head as my headache grew. I hate this damn nightstand, it was cursed.
"Why are you in my room? And why are you basically naked? Also, why are you wearing my shirt?" he scooted over so that he was lying diagonally across his bed, his arms almost hanging off the side of the bed. He was staring at me and then I realized that he could probably see my Victoria Secret laced panties.
