"Sometimes it's better to react with no reaction."

"HE'S HAVING ANOTHER fucking party?" I stared at the flyer that was taped to my locker with amazement.

Wasn't Austin getting sick and tired of constantly partying? This was the eighth party he was having in a span of two weeks. Weren't the first three enough?

"I hear it's going to be the party of the year." Josie spoke through a mouthful of potato chips. She was leaning against her locker as she dug her hands in a tub of Pringles, her favorite.

I rolled my eyes, "He said that five parties ago, it's overdone at this point."

"Someone sounds a little bit salty that her after party for homecoming was overshadowed by Austin's."

"He knew I was throwing an after-party at my place for homecoming this weekend and this asshole decided to throw one that was "conveniently" the same day as mine." I leaned against my locker, the metal on my overalls clinking against the metal locker.

She ignored my current dramatic rampage, her attention glued to the Sour Cream & Onion Pringles she bought this morning. I sighed, running my fingers through the bit of hair that was left down. It was in a half bun, half down style since my alarm failed to wake me early enough to style it this morning.

I was staring off into space when Josie suddenly poked me in the shoulder with her finger. I glared in her direction before following her finger to a pair of double doors that led from one hallway to another. She was pointing at Grant High's star athletes: Austin Gray and Brandon Hendricks.

The way they walked around school, like it was a goddamn runway, was utterly annoying. I almost puked up the bagel I had this morning. I scrunched my nose in disgust as they sauntered down to their hangout place. Suddenly, a short girl with long blonde hair ran up to him and clung to his arm.

I rolled my eyes, "This asshole has the nerve to date someone else, just so he can make me jealous?"

"Sounds like someone is jealous." Josie smirked, shooting me a wink as she stuffed her Pringles in her locker and replaced them with her AP Calculus textbook, it was her last class for the day.

Unfortunately, as she said this, I happened to be in the middle of chewing gum and swallowed it by accident. The Extra Spearmint gum I was enjoying slid down my throat, making me burst into a fit of coughs. To my dismay, this attracted the attention to every student within' a mile's radius. Awesome.

"God no!" I choked out, taking a sip from my water bottle to keep me from suffocating on campus, "He's just doing this because I gave him a boner two weeks ago and this was the best idea he could come up with!"

"Or maybe he's dating her because, you know, he likes her. I know, it's a shocker, I understand if you need time to process." Josie answered sarcastically as she adjusted the cardigan that covered her blue crop top and high waist skirt.

"Shut up."

Josie laughed, "Hey, I'm just stating facts." She turned to shut her locker, grabbed her black cross body bag off the ground and slung it over her shoulder.

"Let's just get to class before I unfriend you." I picked up my black faux leather backpack from my locker and slung it behind my back.

I adjusted my grey scarf around my neck before shutting my locker with a small thud and turned on my heel to head to my last class of the day, AP Government.
