Jack's PoV:
I look down at my feet, watching the water as it rolls gently over my feet, then back into the lake, then repeats itself over and over again. I look around to see that there's only one other person here, and he's too busy doing something else to see what I'm about to do.

Jack, what are you doing? I hear Anti ask, clearly worried. Despite the fact that he's supposed to be evil, he's nice to me and whoever I'm friends with.

I'm ending the pain.

Jack, no. I swear if you do this I will... I will... um.

What?

Just please, don't do this. C'mon, Jack. It could get better, if you do this you're just destroying the chance of it getting better.

I ignore Anti as he tries to take control to stop me. I walk slowly into the water and swim to the center, the deepest part of the lake. I dive down, still ignoring Anti's protests. I stop as I slowly lose the energy to continue going down. I look up at the surface of the lake as the breath leaves me slowly, forming bubbles to rise to the surface as I start to slowly drift farther down. As my vision starts fading to black I see a shadow reaching for me. I can hear Anti yelling in my mind for me to get up and swim to the surface, my body wanting to do just that, but I don't. I barely feel as someone grabs me and I feel my body being lifted, then everything goes black.

Mark's PoV:
I grab the man and drag him to the surface. I swim to the shore and pick him up once I'm able to stand in the water. I carry him to the dry, warm sand that's been gradually heating from the sun. I lay him down and feel for a pulse. I feel a faint pulse and I sigh in relief.

He's not dead, now I just need to get him to wake up and breathe. I tilt his head back and open his mouth and plug his nose. I give him CPR until he finally coughs up water and I sigh in relief as he looks at me. He looks at the lake, then back at me.

"What did you just do...?" He asks, his eyes slightly wide as he coughs a bit more water up, onto the sand.

"I saved you," I said.

"I didn't want you too."

"Too bad, I wasn't about to let you die. The name's Mark, by the way."

"My name's Jack, and if you would please go back to what you were doing."

"How 'bout I not? It's clear to me that you'll just try again."

Jack's PoV:
I hear Anti start yelling at me again. If he had an actual body he would probably slap me in the back of the head before hugging me and crying into my shoulder. Well, he can't, 'cuz he doesn't have a body.

Anti, please, you know I want this to end.

Well, why don't you try dating? Find someone who'll accept you and love you, no matter what happens. Why not get to know this guy?

Will you leave me alone if I do?

If it turns out this is wrong advice to give, then I'll just leave. I'm sure the other demons won't throw me out of every group I try getting into.

Gee, thanks. I sigh and look at Mark. He's just sitting next to me, not leaving. He smiles at me kindly. I can't believe I'm taking advice from you, Anti.

Well, too bad, you are. Mostly because you want me to leave you alone. If this works, you owe me.

Sure, whatever. I respond, internally rolling my eyes. I look at the water, every thought shifting to wanting to just dive into the water and forget the world around me. I feel a hand on my shoulder and look to see Mark's hand on my shoulder, a worried expression on his face.
