Jane stands up along with Matt to go look at what caused the comotion at the front door. They hear it click and rush to see who is there. When they get there, they're mrt with a closed door. Looking to each other in confusion, Matt walks foteward and opens the door, seeing no one there. "What in the world was that?" he asks. Jane frowns and shrugs,"Come on, let's go back. There doesn't seem to be any sign of anyone walking in." she says softly. Matt humms in agreement and they close and lock the door, then go back to their t.v. watching. After some few hours, Matt gets up,"I'll go ask Alice what she wants for dinner." he says shortly before walking out.
At that point, Chels, Mike, and Alex walk onto the house, chattering excitedly aboutbtheir day. "Hi mom. Guess what happened at the party today." Chels says as she walks inside the kitchen, where her mom is getting out things. "What? Let me guess, someone asked you out and now you guys are dating?" Jane says. Chels squeals and nods,"Not just someone. The Tyler Matthews. He's sooo hot and wow. He asked me out. Me. Of all people. Isn't it great?" Jane smiles and nods her head,"I would want to meet him later on and you aren't allowed to go anywhere alone with him until your father and I meet him. No exceptions. Is that understood?"Jame pauses in her talking to turn to her daughter and raises an eyebrow. Chelsea groans and nods,"I understand."
Jane's response is cut off by Matt running down the stairs. "Alice isn't in her room. And she hasn't gone out without telling us in a long time. Did any of you see her?" he asks. Jane moves from the kitchen and goes to walk through the house, calling out Alice's name. The three siblings shake their head slowly as they watch their parents move around in panic,"No. We haven't." Chelsea goes further to huff and roll her eyes,"Why are you even worried that she's gone? She doesn't belong in our family." she says crossing her arms. Mike nods his head,"That's true. I don't see why you guys are being so concerned." Matthew pauses in what he's doing to turn to his children and glare at them. Stepping forward, he slaps the two on the mouth, cauising them to cry out and hold their mouths.
"You will not say that about your sister. Yes, she is adopted but that doesn't mean she isn't a part of this family. She has been through a lot of things and you guys need to stop abusing her, don't think I don't notice that you do. It will stop. Am i clear?" he growls out. The three siblings nod, taking a step back and Matt nods, moving to the phone. "She's not here, and I already checked the backyard. She always comes when I call her, even if she's in the forest." Jane says as she walks to them. Matt nods and dails 911. "Hello, this is the 911 emergency line. What is your emergency?" a robotic male voice says. "Yes, I'd like to report a missing child. She's eight years old, we don't know how long she's been gone but we guess it's been a few hours." he says hurridly into the phone. "Well sir, I understand that you're worried but we can't look for her until she's been gone for 24 hours. Perhaps she just went out and you didn't know about it?" the person says.
"No. She doesn't do that. And what do you mean you can't look for her yet? She's an eight year old little girl, she could be kidnapped." Matt says, his voice annoyed. "I wish I could help you, but I can't. It's best to wait to see if she comes back before raising any unnecessary alarms. It wouldn't do good to get a squad car out, only to have your daughter come back within the hours. Please, call us if she hasn't returned in 24 hours, only then will we be able to help you." the person says, then the phones line shuts off. Matthew groans and shakes his head, blowing out a calm breath. "Alright, they say they can't help us unless she's been gone for 24 hours. I guess we shouldn't really freak out so much. This isn't the first time she's disappeared on us. Maybe it's just that she's disappearing in this manner?" he says.
Jane nods her head, pacing the length of the hallway by the kitchen," Alright. I guess we should go do dinner now... Matt, you cook. I can't concentrate." she says shortly before going up the stairs. Matt looks at his three children,"Go set the table and then go sit somewhere. No noises, you guys be good." he says before walking off to the kitchen. The three children huff and walk to the den, closing the door. "I'm still saying, why are mom and dad so worried about her. She's done nothing important to this family, she did nothing to earn her place here. All she is, is a spoiled little brat who no one wanted. Mom and dad are just taking pity on her groveling ass." Alex says as soon as they sit down. Mike turns on the tv to a random show and nods in agreement. "Honestly. I'm glad she's gone, she was never a part of the family anyway. I hate her so much." he says. Chels chuckles at her brothers," Hey, if she ever comes back, I'm not even playing, I'm ganna make her life miserable. Not that it isn't already, I'll just add my own spice to it." she laughs. Her two brothers nod in agreement. "What do you think we can do to bully her?" Matt asks.
