[In pencil:] And then Night falls...
i've never liked it when Brilliant Sun disappears. Sun is the essence of who i am. Sun is part of me. So when Night falls over the sky, i lose part of myself. My physical being. All i am when Night falls is my mind, be that what it will.
Don't get me wrong, i enjoy the time spent here, it's only one of two times i can rest. The Darkness covers everything i would. Most often, i sleep, as He does. Occasionally i lay awake, and eventually find myself wandering. i learned one Night as He rolled over that leaving Him when Night has fallen doesn't hurt. These are the times when i make my most brilliant discoveries and epiphanies; when i'm not linked to Him.
This is one of those Nights, when the Darkness covers all that i would. Currently i sit in a chair, looking out the window into the stark Darkness of the yard. The only noticeable feature is a single lamppost in the distance, emanating a warm caramel light. Between it and i was a Human, leaning against a truck. He seemed to be wearing a dark jacket, glistening off the single light.
i watch him, every so often He would turn His head and look towards the lamppost, as if He expected it to melt away. Nonetheless, it surprised me when he suddenly began moving towards it, reaching it sooner than i expected. He crouched at its base and spent a moment there before righting Himself and walking back to presumably His truck. Why did He do that?
The Sky is dripping. i was too focused on the Human to notice, but there is a slight patter on the roof, and the ground outside has become slightly more reflective. The Human leaves. i'm confused. Why did the Sky drip now, right as the Human left?
The patter on the roof becomes louder and more frequent, a Rumble is coming. Why now?
i walk outside onto the porch. The light illuminates my form ever so slightly, causing a tingling feeling across me. i've never been outside without Him before. i leave the porch and walk into the grass, now glistening from the drips from the Sky. The lamppost further reveals my dark form in its caramel light. The tingling becoming stronger, almost a stinging feeling now; i'm getting close to the extent i can go before it gets Painful.
I stop.
A large crack in the distance proves my theory. A Rumble is indeed coming. I don't seem to care, however. My focus has gone back to the lamppost. What did that human do to it? I can't get close enough, but it's burning my mind now. Could it be important?
The drips quickly become heavy, and more cracks continue, coming closer. My mind is burning to know, so I advance towards the light, but the stinging sensation intensifies further...
Another crack, this one close enough it fills Darkness with light, fully showing my form, causing me to cringe and jump back.
[Written in red pen:] Only momentary, the Pain was unbearable.
[Pencil:] i go back.
i will not know what the Human did.
Safe again...
i will not travel away again...
The world is dangerous...
Back inside again, i will not learn what that Human did to the lamppost. With this Rumble, i need to get back to Him, just in case He wakes up.
What did that Human do? This burning in my brain is almost as bad as standing in the light without Him. It must have been important this late. Could the human have written on it? Carved it? Moved it?
Alas, He is waking up. Maybe we will walk by it soon. Then i will be able to tell.
The Rumble woke Him up. Now He will get a small snack and go back to bed, as He usually does on days like this. And i follow.
