Yesterday, you surprised me with two plane tickets.

One for me, and one for you.

Tonight, we're laying on the sand, staring at the beautiful waves that come crashing onto the shores of Hawaii. It's dark and cold, but the thought of you alone lights up the small fire in my heart.

Yesterday, when you placed the tickets in my hand, I asked you what the occasion was. You told me it was for my birthday. I remember staring at you with as much affection as I could convey and hugging you so tightly, we had the power to explode into little fireworks of love.

I smile at the thought.

Slowly, you raise your hand and point up at the night sky. You begin to point out different stars and constellations. But all of the stars in the night sky don't matter to me.

All I can think about are the stars in your eyes.

Before we end up spending the night out on the sand, we stand up and brush the sand off our legs. The wind whips at our hair, and your perfect hairstyle is now a dishevelled look.

But you still look beautiful.

We swing our intertwined hands back and forth, as we walk along the boardwalk back to our resort.

It's nice with just the two of us, so we have this moment to ourselves. No one can take it away from us. I wish the boardwalk would never end, and we could just keep walking. Maybe this is practice for when we walk down the aisle together in the future.

I tell myself not to wish for too much, or disappointment will end up loving me more than you do.

I don't need to make wishes anyway, for you're my wish come true.

And that's all I need.

Eventually, we arrive back in our cosy room, and I lay down on our king bed. It's a large bed, but knowing us, we'll only end up using half of it.

I expect you to lay down next to me, but you never do.

Instead, I find you lying on the floor.

I call your name.

You don't respond.
