Re:Zero SUBARU X REM

Chapter 5

As the moonlight hit the roof of Baga' Inn, all lights shut off. Nothing else lit up the home except the burning bright light from the candle Subaru held onto. Rem slept still but it worried Subaru if this really was an emergency. But he hesitates to wake her.

"Maybe they'll light the lanterns again! They have to! This is a business... right? I mean, who wouldn't?!" he got frightened thinking all that could go wrong. He had it all in his palms... but it easily could abandon him, repeating his day all over again only to follow the pain again. Not this day, he kisses Rem's cheek and swings open the door with the small candle.

"Not today! I won't allow anyone else to touch her or harm my life again!" Subaru walks down the hallway determined, then hears something drop- like a box filled with precious silverware.
"What the hell was that?!" his expression goes grim as he sees flying arms dash at him. A horrified Subaru makes his way back to Rem, putting her on his shoulders and turning both ways to find a exit.

"S-Subaru... what's going on? Is something happening?" she awakes back up, gripping tightly onto his jacket perplexed.

"No not at all! Umm... I just thought we should get out a bit. Well.... I think we're being attacked but I got this!" he promised. Apparently, he speeded through the room and back outside the room, and lower down stairs. Once he got back, he saw no one left inside the building.

"T-T-That's impossible...." Subaru's face went pale realizing no one was at the bar. Therefore hearing wind above stairs, (guessing it was the Unseen Hands) he hops over the counter, holding onto Rem very carefully.

"Subaru-kun!"

"It's a-alright! I know what t-to do! We'll be fine, I-I promise!" his voice was unsteady, unclear and trembled. He was scared to all death. Now was the time he'd need to rest his head on Rem's lap, but he couldn't anymore if he still was being pursued by the ghostly hands.

  "Subaru... I know you're scared but you're brave. Because you are you. And I know if this doesn't sound convincing but... I love you. You have a power for protecting everyone; I adore all those heroic abilities." Rem squeaked underneath Subaru's chest, placing her hand on him. "And once you do figure everything out, it'll save us. I know you'll try because you haven't gave up on any of us. Once you saved me all those times.... I've always loved your courageous, trustworthy heart. It's always raised me up whenever I needed saving. The main source from all your good is the pain you've been through... it's saved you! Everyone.... All you cared for. It's all from your tough work. This is why I'm here now. You. You did this- you can fix this- you can do anything. Just promise me you'll sleep with me again hero?" she stated, with a hearable giggle somewhere between her promise. 

All of Subaru's worriness sinked, revealing a tip of hope. Which therefore, was bravery. It consisted of love, hard work, and suffering. It was finally his time to rise up and be the man for Rem always dreamed of.

"I'll save us by Retur-"

Time paused. No sound was heard. And blackness consumed Subaru's vision... he falls to the floor in the shadows.

"Good evening folks!" a voice yelled out from the dim lights underneath a porch. What? Where... am... I? Subaru was totally blank. He only had little time to realize somehow, he went back to his evening without pain and suffering.

"Em.... sir?"

"Oh, yes? You have a question?" the person asked him while Rem cocked a eyebrow at Subaru.

"Yes..." Subaru swallowed hard, closed his eyes and asked: "Do you know where we can find a park of some sort? I have business with my adorable girlfriend, Rem-san!" he smooshed his cheek against Rem's in the end, smiling.
